Describe something you learned by trial and error what you wish someone had told you. Indoor or outdoor.

I'll start. My very first grow was completely ghetto. A cardboard box which may, or may not have been lined with aluminum foil. Its been a while and I can't remember. I used a simple horticulture grow light with a timer. No ventilation at all. The fact that I was successful is first timer's luck. I harvested an eighth that tasted like hay, but it got me stoned. My next indoor grow was completely different because I actually did some research based on my observations on the first grow.

Share your wisdom, or even an amusing anecdote that can teach a lesson.

i learned that organic is superior to synthetic/chem. ive seen chemmy grows and organic grows, the organic was so much better that words cant even describe the dankness. we used over 10 organic nutes, each was different and critically acclaimed. true, 10+ werent necessary for superfunk - but it resulted in better herb than any other grow ive seen. each nute had its own job, they were carefully chosen each for unique properties. ppl argue to trust genetics and only use like 2 nutes, this is an acceptable method but honestly its more for the outdoor grower - the indoor growers benefit from multiple bottles of nutes. plus, plants need about 14 things but its not like they're gonna get angry if you give them some brussel sprouts with their turnup greens if you understand what i mean. id be happy to list the nutes, you can see whats in them and see for yourself that plants enjoy a variety of stuff - its nature! give them the natural stuff and they wont react harshly. while im making my point, i also feel compelled to say this (before someone else does), yes i know the industry is raping growers with "buy this! buy that!". however, that doesnt mean that using what you want to use is a rip off - especially if its organic. if you want to argue that its not 100% necessary then i agree, but it WILL make the buds juicier and thicker when you make a highly specialized concoction of organics.

yea there's way too many, i had to have my buddy point out the best & most essential ones. its like every brand has 10 diff nutes, its ridiculous. but if you find the perfect mixture, your babies will show you their love. i hate that whole "newest/latest nute trend!" shit, i have a select # of nutes that i use and each one of them has their own purpose. just make sure you know what youre using, botany classes help hehe

Here's a lesson I learned the hard way. I started out with strains based on nostalgia rather than the the reality/limitations of my system.

I chose Skunk #1 not realizing medium strains can get pretty tall in a flowering box. I would have been much more successful at this moment had I started with a short strain. I tried Lowryder 2, but was disappointed with the yield. Through trial and error I discovered Northern Lights and White Widow.

On the plus side, I am taking all I have learned to design my next set-up.
