Hey there! so as we all know spring is right around the corner and, i had a idea for a outdoor grow and would like some imput by my fellow growers. Now im thinking 30 five gallon smart pots filled with clones and fox farms ocean forest soil. all vegged inside at the start of feb, and i plan to have them out side in full sunlight by the end of may. any ideas for yields?

Yield will depend on strain. If I were you I'd go with a base like promix or something cheaper and build off it. Best of luck. Just remember, strain is crucial. You do the math, if done right you can pull 4(or so) zips a plant. 4x30 is 120, 120 ounces is 7.5 pounds.

Not sure about you, but over in the High Desert a plant started in Feb grows out to be a complete monster of a tree.. Think you should bump up the pots to 50 gallons at the least.

Can you grow in the ground? 5 gallons is mighty small pot size. You put the same amount of soil, mixed with dirt in a wide, but shallow hole in the ground, you will get a bigger yield. Your yield will depend on Sun, Strain and {hole} Size.

yeah 5 gallons are small but ive done a couple grows in 50 gallons but, because of the area is kinda like a marsh/bog white mold likes to set in and well, once you get that it never goes away.

I'm going to do a swamp grow with 5 gallon buckets myself. I'm trying to teach a buddy how to grow, and the swamp was the only land he can get access to. Buckets are cheap and they have a handle. You can carry in 10 gallons of soil mix at a time. And I'm all about efficiency of time spent with my feet in mud.

I've never grown in a swamp, so I will be learning as I go. Mold will be something I'll have to look out for. I'll look forward to watching your grow if you post a journal. Good luck.

Your first bad move is fox farm ocean forest soil, that soil is crap. Try roots organic, or maybe even some promix with coco in it. I've heard fox farm ocean forest was to hot for clones, i've also saw a lot of videos on how bad it was. Second if you can, dont grow them in pots if you have them outdoors. the thing about outdoors is you want them to grow as big as possible, and they will if you dont contain the roots. They naturally grow outside anyways, it wont hurt them. Maybe you could dig up some dirt and add some fresh soil in to jump start them. 3rd growing in a swamp is a horrible idea, not only do you have to worry about mold but the amount of insects living around the water and animals could be fatal to your girls. In a swamp you wont be able to control the humidity, they might do good in veg but when they start to flower they might not do so good, you dont want to put all that time and effort in it for nothing. If you do decide to do it your way let me know how it turns out mate.

funny you say that because ive never had a problem with the soil in fact, ocean forest is one of the best soils ive ever used. everyone seems to have a bad time with it. I was thinking about trying roots and i think i might do a test grow with one plant just to see what i can get. I wish i did not have to grow in a godam swamp with the fucking mud, and bugs and the swamp ass and oh that godam white mold -___- it never goes away. sucks to be in a state where growing a fucking plant is illegal.

Well if it works for you keep doing it, some things work better for some people than others. I tried fox farm and it didnt work out for me, then i went to hp and it worked for a while until i found roots organic, and yeah i know what you mean. Growing illegally can be a pain. why not grow in the basement? When i first started years back here it was illegal but since they made it legal for people who get a medical card, u can have anywhere between 12-72 plants depending on certain factors. I have much more and i shouldnt but i have a card so most they'll do if they ever find out which i highly doubt is take a few plants and keep me under count. Be safe man.
