Not going to lie... never seen it. It's not something Americans (for the most part) know much about.

Glorified soccer my ass.

To hobbes, firstly i dont see anything tough or manly about hitting a person whos not looking,in the NRL its 2 teams running straight at each other,no blindsiding, they know the collisions coming and they take it.

Secondly, the amount of stopages in an NFL game is ridiculous, whats the longest period of continual play, about 10 seconds?! please. Also the NRL doesnt have 1 team for defence and 1 team for offence, the team does it all for 80mins,the level of fitness in our game is far greater i think, also a much more skillful game..Ill try post a vid soon.
1) I never said that real football(american)was manly or tough, I said it was a vicious sport compared to Rugby.

2) I'll take a game where there is a constant stoppage vs a game where everyone runs around and maybe score a point or two total. Completely boring in my book.

3) You are still trying to compare Rugby to Football in terms of "fitness" level. Stop doing it! The NFL is built around power, quick speed bursts and really good foot work and body work. Its a stop and go kind of game ala Tennis(which I play a lot of as well) and that does not in ANY way make it easier to play than Soccer(which is boring as hell) or Rugby.

The strategy that goes into the plays in The NFL is incredible. Coaches make millions a year for a reason.

That shit looks like a prison riot.

Also, the NFL has the best drugs.

Yeah everyone always discounts the amount of strategy and time/effort coaches and players put into each week. Its literally like a chess match, each game, each play and every player.

The average NFL QB watches nearly 30 hours of game tape a week... thats on top of his meetings, walk through, practices, charity and whatever else they got on during the week.

Yeh it probly is much more strategic ill give it that, rugbly league is more a battle of attrition rather than strategy in most cases.

Another thing i find ridiculous is the rates of pay and the trade deals done in the NFL,i spose u cant blame the league for having too much money but the players have more than they know wat to do with.

The very TOP players in our league im pretty sure are all under 1million(AUSD) a season and third party deals,(sponsors etc.) are very limited.Wheres all ur damn money comin from?

english, so figure my view on rugby vs nfl.

i can certainly see that each has thier own skills etc, but it's all about rugby :) it's way too brutal for me, i'll freely admit, i gave up playing around 14, i don't have a butch body. the pads in the NFL just take away from the down to earth violent nature of the game. it's kinda like paintball or something :P

yes and no dots. as has been said, continuous play in NFL is like hens teeth. whlie i find the tackles awesome, from a what the hell point of view as opposed to a professional view, it's jsut stop start stop start and piss annoying.

at the same time though, rugby certainly isn't as it used to be, it's just a agme of bloody penalty kicks now, bloody boring at times

From a Yank to a Limey, soccer is for 10 year old girls. :-)
this ent got nothing to do with football... or soccer as it's called over there. we're talking about ruggggggggggby

i agree fully though, football is a great fun game, but it's for pansies, i had a reputation for holding my defense together with the old "don't give them shit, go for the shins" aproach, anger and agression wasn't welcome. and fuck, how much money can people possbily get paid to kick a ball without a hint of danger to them. i can see brutal sports salaries as almost like an insurance pay out haha, with football they just ear millions for i'm not quite sure what, kicking the bloody ball back into their own half every few seconds!

football-touchdown, rugby-try...it should be the other way around, because in football you "TRY" to get the ball past a line for points, and in rugby, you have to "touchdown" the ball after you pass the line..ive already emailed the NFL, and got no response...fuckin assholes.

rugby is awesome tho..with they showed more of it on the sports networks, instead of fucking soccer.
