What do purple branches indicate?

my 2 older plants (61 days) and my youngest, stunted plant (18 days), are showing purple branches.

i have the following problems which might be relevant:

i overfed the older ones and burned very slightly, but the younger has not been fed at all yet, only nutes in soil.

it is getting colder here. i dont know the temp at night, but in the morning it has been around 12 C, about 60 F, i think. it warms up as the day goes on.

should i be concerned, what can i do to remedy, and what effect would it have?

thanks for your help!

yeah they are getting a bit cold in this case, other cases it's genetics, and on some occasions it can be other issues. Growth really slows down in those temps with some strains. I take it this is outdoor? are they in a greenhouse? more info and we can help you fix your issue. Are they flowering or are those days from the start of their life cycle?

Thanks WCC!

i should have mentioned, they are autos, so the older ones are flowering, close to harvest. i have 2 younger ones of the same strains. these both have green stems and much lighter coloured leaves. i first assumed this was age/maturity (first grow) or possible due to too much nutes early on, but when i saw the same colouring on the young plant which has been struggling anyway, i realised there may be a problem i can fix.

they are indoors, in my attic, but im in Scotland so the outside temp today is 10 C. im hoping as we start to use the central heating more the attic will stay warm, but its a pretty old house.

strains are Speedy Gonzales (kannabia) which is a Le Reina auto cross, and Critical mas Auto from Big Buddah.
the young one is Autobubble from female seeds. it has struggled from the beginning, and the other one didnt surface at all.

another possible problem is the soil. its store bought miracle grow with nothing added. no idea where the pH is at.

ill try to get some pics tonight. really appreciate your help!

Thanks for the additional info, as it somewhat has me thinking... Is it possible to transplant into a better soil mix at least for the younger ones? I hate Miracle Grow products for cannabis or pretty much in general when I think about it. Black Gold makes some decent products and would be a huge step in the right direction going with one of their mixes and their products are available at most large chain stores if a hydro shop is out of the question. I'm also not a fan of autos... yet... I have interest in them and possibly working on a project or two with some of our genetics, but have yet to do so. I understand the need for auto's and all that so it's not that I am against them, I just don't have a need to grow them yet. Are you feeding any nutes? I know autos are touchy with the nutes, but that doesn't mean no nutes. It sounds like the yellowing of the leaves is a nitrogen def and can be fixed rather easily. Also I would add a small space heater and or try and enclose/make your room smaller to conserve the heat from the lights, which will help keep the room or whatever warmer. If that isn't possible I would seriously look into a small cheap and safe space heater. Don't cook them, but make sure they are a good 67-75 degrees. You can private msg me and I can help set you up for your next grow (not with genetics but with tips, lol) so you will have better results and a little more knowledge behind ya! Good luck to you!

yeah the soil is def next on my list to upgrade. i had a quick look, but dont see a UK supplier of Black Gold. nor, Fox Farms, which everyone recommends. i can get bio bizz however, so i am considering this. Im also considering coco. do you have any experience of that?

i really cant complain , im growing buds that would have cost me a small fortune in a setup that cost me very little. Obviously though, i want to learn and improve.

I grow in a coco mix myself indoors and outdoors. Bio Bizz coco is some of the best coco and their nute line is a good one also. I just switched from them to a more synthetic lineup outdoors. Canna is another option over in your neck of the woods, and is a good one! If you need anymore info on anything just ask...

OK. I am very wasted atm but just going to throw my ideas in.
I have often seen purple stems and no idea why.
100% not temp related in my case. (total control as much as needs to be at this time of year)
However, never seemed to do me any harm in terms of yield.
Also, I only seem to get the bright purple stem growing from seeds. If I ever get it from clones they seem to be a darker red/rhubarb colour.
Don't take this as gospel. I will look better if anyone asks in the morning but ATM I am wankered!
P.S. I like Canna Aqua range. Very pH stable in my situation with some clean Hydroton. Set pH close, re-set 2nd day then sorted until next res change.
I'm not saying it's the best. I am saying it works for me with my tap-water.
Sorry, hammered and talking shit now so good growing guys and girls.
