What are the top 5 LED for a 4 x 4 on the market?

Best is a relative term.....that being said, I'm using an American made Timber Fatty. It consists of 9 100 watt cob fixtures. I have it configured with 5-1750k, 2-4k and 2-3k fixtures. The color temperature averages out to about 2,500k. That spectrum is not far an HPS flowering profile. I get excellent frost, bulk and weight from it. It has a 3 year real warranty (i.e. the company doesn't dick you around when trying to get something fixed).
You are able to custom configure it to your specifications. The cost including shipping and riu discount was around $1,100.
I owned an HLG Rspec 600 Diablo as well. I preferred the Timber for it's light penetration and evenness of light dispersion. I've got nothing bad to say about HLG. Their customer service on a return was first rate.
In my opinion Gavita's are way overpriced. You won't go wrong with any of the lights on your list. I looked at most of them before I bought the Fatty.
I customized my Fatty by adding this Solurecure UV kit to it.

That's because these "best light" threads got old a long time ago. ;-)

Well you have to figure there will always be new LED users wanting to make the switch from HPS and newer LED's on the market that might be better than the ones that came out 6 months ago. It seems they keep making them better and better with each new light that gets made.

It's the reason why I made the thread. Always something newer and better coming out :eyesmoke:

Reading, asking questions, experimenting with your grows keeps the knowledge needle moving.
Sounds like you're ramping things up. Lights are certainly important and in your situation, I would buy as much light as your budget will allow. A good light is going to last you many years. As you learn and get your techniques and best practices consistent on the cultivation side, you'll maximize the capabilities of your light.
Happy growing

So........................the Optic 650s

The ppfd chart is off the charts. Or is it too good to be true? Getting one this week.

Thanks for that. One guy is having a bad time with a dead driver and customer support. Should I make my decision based on that alone? I don't think that would be fair unless they are getting quite a few similar reports. I agree it doesn't sound well for the support side. Drivers do fail early sometimes and they are covered.

Thanks for that chart. Looks like the Diablo is still up top. But where is the r spec Scorpion? I wonder why they don't test that one?
Because HLG only sent him the Diablo. Really, the only reason they sent him anything at all was because he was making them look bad with his previous test of a 550R, which he tested with a piece of clear acrylic in front of the light, thereby reducing the measurable output of the fixture. You can go back and look at his past review of that light to confirm this yourself. HLG isn't gonna send Shane their full line for free just to test, and Shane doesn't buy these lights he tests either.

PJ, in your opinion, where do you think the Scorpion Rspec would rate on that chart? And yes, I saw the previous test and I was one of the few people who mentioned the plastic cover :eyesmoke:

I think a lot of it depends on your situation. Have high ceilings? Go Rspec. Have height issues, go Diablo. I use cmh and qb96's combined these days, which I would place high on the list.

It's really down to the Optic 650s and the Diablo. 10 year warranty vs 3. Same price after discounts. But the Optic supposedly has a better ppfd chart with IR and UV. It's gonna be close :eyesmoke:

hey there, trying to decide between the 465w and the 600w pro from photontek for my 4x4 x7ft tall..... .......

do you like the 600w for your 4x4 or is it a bit overkill? i will pay the extra if it means getting a better ROI over the first few rounds.
Honestly, I think you'll do great either way. I'm not sure you will ever be able to make full use of the 600 watt LED in a 4x4-if they are available, check the PAR maps for both lights in a 4x4 footprint, and see what the results are for a 4x4 at 80%. I was in a similar spot, looking at two lights of similar wattages, and I went with the higher wattage light but I plan on running it at 80%, and I would have been equally happy with the 450 watt light. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply! As of right now they only provide par maps at different heights for the 600w. But I should be looking to top out around 1000ppf at any given spot before I worry about burning the plants right? I don't have co2.
