i plan to build a box...no more than 12 plants
with a 8 in veg and 4 in flower preferably

what do you think is good or bad about a drip system?
would you suggest something else that is easier and can be automated?

I too am interested in hearing the pros & cons. I haven't tried hydro b4. Initially I liked the idea of an ebb & flow. But I've become more interested in a drip system lately.

Oh & steve, maybe i'm not reading it right but...

would you suggest something else that is easier and can be automated?
Do you mean something easier that can ALSO be automated? Or do you mean something easier that can INSTEAD be automated. Because I can't see why a drip system could not be automated.

yeah, what i meant was....

Is there another hydroponics system that is easy for beginners...and can aslo be automated...i'm aware that drip systems can be automated and that feature is something i would really need in any system i decide to use

ebb and flow are great also

drip has it's advantages and disadvantages

plants grow fast

cons;
can't grow bigplants (roots grow crazy)
major salt buildup from the drip emitter
