I have three bags of seeds. One bag has large brown seeds with what looks like tiger strips on them. The second bag of seeds are large light green seeds. The last bag has smaller light green seeds. I know the genetics are the same for each bag of seeds. Can anyone answer why the colors are different? And what seeds should look like when they are 100% healthy? Any other insight into the coloration of seeds is good information. What colors are the good colors. What colors means heathy seeds. What colors means better genetics and better smoke. Ect al, any info is good info. I somtimes use bags seeds and want to know what seeds to look for. I get seeds from a number of different people and 90% is bag seeds. I only get good seeds from people I know that have a proven plant with good genetics. Thanx for any input. Answer away people:

theres really no difference in the color of seeds tbh.. they all start out smaller and whitish and as they mature, they turn darker and brown.. some have stripes, some don't.. the only ones that you really don't want to mess around with are the white ones as they tend to be immature and a lot of times won't germ..

small pale seed ...... immature.
Larger dark seed ...... what you want.
Tip : Same seed Doesn't necessarily give same genetics. It does in a way, but due to many strains having several pheno's, that plant you said your friend grew and produced seed... well your seed doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a similar plant (relating to size, potency, flowering time etc.) alot of time it does... but just a warning.
Only way to do this is from clone.
You say trusted people with proven plants....... I say why they producing seeds, if proven track record and plants, normal way would be to clone..... plant with seed is a bad plant or at least grown badly if not looking to specifically produce seed.
If you bought weed with seed theres a chance the grower was more than likely NOT looking for seed, the plant seeded either through male pollen from a male plant or herming............ if herming.. you don't really want the seed, or there's a chance your new plants will go same way. But not always. Lets just take away all the factors that may screw up your first grow.
Just something to think about.
Basically if your friend ment to produce seed... great.
If not... forget the seed... get a clone or buy real proven seed from a real breeder from a real seed bank.
For me................. someone offered me weed with seeds in .... I'd Pass......... it ain't the weed we want.

Thanx a lot. That was a question I knew the answer to but was not 110% sure. Hillcrest, my friend was pollinating a few segregated females on purpose to get seeds. Where my friend lives you can not get medical marijuana so it is hard to find clones at a reasonable price if at all. So instead of forking over cash to buy seeds over-sees he thought to pollinate a few females in a spare closet. That way he had some understanding off the genetics of the seeds. I know there is no 100% chance of all seeds being good smoke, just because a seed bank says it is. My friend just wanted to have his own seeds just in case. He does clone a few mother plants but you never know. It is always good to keep a few seeds around in case all hell brakes loose on ur plants. Thanx for the info everyone.
