What Am I Doing Wrong?

Well I'm looking for some smoke advice. I grew out 4 strains Bubba Kush, NYCD, Pineapple Express and Jillybean. I got 5 mason jars each except for the NYCD which netted 2 jars. However I smoked the BK first. I smoked it through a bong using a carbon filter. The smoke was harsh on my throat and left me with a nasty taste in my mouth. Shit had me sitting in my computer chair trying to remember how to breath! I swear I wasn't even on this plane of existence! When I smoked the NYCD it was the same harshness on the throat using the same bong. Stone was the same but with a slight visual impairment and paranoia. Now that shit had me eating so fast my hand was to my mouth before I knew it. My issue is this, how can I stop this harshness on the throat? Is it just these strains or carbon in the bong causing it. Should I roll it in papers? Would this stop the harshness to my throat? I don't like that kinda couch locked stone anyway. I'm a first time smoker if you can't tell trying to deal with my post traumatic stress disorder. By the way the ash was a dark black with a little gray if that helps. Any advice would be appreciated.

maybe look into making some butter and try eating your meds if you have a hard time smoking it . I don't know for sure but i assume a vaporizer method would be less harsh on your throat . I have to say though my buddy is standing here laughing at this post . try filter out of bong and maybe just add some ice cubes to bong .

I've used a lot of bongs but never heard of a carbon filter for a bong. If you are a first time smoker you should be careful with any of those strains grown correctly. I would suggest the vaporizer if you have a hard time smoking. Otherwise it sounds like you dried to quick leaving too much CBD and cloraphil(sp?) behind. That will give you a grassy taste and harsh smoke. Or could be too dry or your a first time smoker and pot smoke burns at a high temperature; it's harsh.

Okay I'm sure I flushed it long enough. I flushed for 2 weeks. I'll try the jillybean in a J and report back. Plus I saw a clip on a MMJ Bootcamp vid that I should use a percolated bong to stop the harshness. I have a perched bong also I try them both ways.

CBD will not go away its an oil and CBD is not harsh.

do you have much experience smoking pot at all other than this time? if so how does it compare? if you are not very experienced in smoking then the feeling of breathing in lung fulls of hot smoke will take some getting used to

the ash should be grey-white not black
harshness usually comes from not flushing properly (were the fan leaves yellow or still green when harvested)
or improper curing/drying did it dry too fast? should be about 12-14 days from chop till you can close the lids on the jars and not worrry about moisture causing mold.

mold would be another reason for harsh smoke.

you can always make bubble hash or cook with it.

the jillybean should be a up high, not a couch lock like the kush.

Okay it was the bong. I was using a straight piped bong. I switched to a bong with a 7 arm percolator and it was smooth and dangerous. It still made me cough but no harshness. The smoke cooler. Still scared of the bubba kush. Not gonna try try it again

still think your plants weren't flushed enough. those ashes should be white or at least light grey at least. make some butter out of the bubba and eat some goodies. curing will do wonders for that bubba as well. good luck!
