I joined the dead parents club. My dad passed away after a sudden but luckily short illness this past week. I got to be here and say goodbye. Nothing was left unsaid. Reconnected with a lot of family and friends. As terrible as it was, it went about as well as anything like this can go.
Sorry for your loss. Sometimes life just doesn’t make sense. I lost someone I care for a different way recently (breakup). I guess curveballs are just part of the journey. God bless you and stay strong.

Sorry to hear it, Neo. So glad to hear that you guys got to say everything important, and express your love for each other. That's beautiful, and I'm sure cathartic. It is nice to get that kind of closure. Also happy to hear that you got to reconnect with other loved ones, that's the way to do it. All the best, my man...

Going out with a sudden, short illness sounds like the best way.
Hang in there bro.

Thanks everybody. I was able to hop on a plane and spend the last 24 hours with him, all the way to his final breath and to the beyond. And I don't think a person can exit this world any more softly and beautifully as he did. So I'm at peace with everything and feel lucky to get the kind of closure I did, knowing a lot of people are not lucky enough to get that. He beat lung cancer 8 years ago. And that's the way I'm also looking at everything. In the eulogy I said we got eight more years with the guy then maybe we were even supposed to. He lived a great life and left a great legacy as he was a great grandfather. My parents retired to sunny Florida 10 years ago . So I'm hanging here helping my mom with his affairs . He basically died in Paradise . But I am very much looking forward to getting home and hugging my kid and my wife though.

So sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your family. Have a safe trip home. Sounds like your father lived a good long happy life and thats to be grateful for. He sounded like an incredible person, great father and u a lucky son to have him. So much to be thankful for but I’m sad though. I know how hard it is.
take care.
