Well Here Goes

Well after some reflection and advice from a few veteran members (Thx), I decided to start a journal. I have completed 90% of my new grow room. I got my clones started a couple weeks ago. The light hood for my flowering chamber is almost done. (remote ballast is fucking with me) I have a 400w MH (veg), and two 150w HPS(flowering). I'm starting with 6 clones. Royal Kush, Lemon Skunk, Hash Plant X Haze, NY White Rhino. My flowering chamber is 6.5 sq. ft. and I'm planning on 6 plants in it.

Got my clones into Soil. 5 Clones are for my caregiver to make into Mothers for his operation. I'll choose my 6 out of the 12 soon. I have 6 in ICU (joke with my Mom) that she'll work with.
Caregiver I got the clones from said there are 2 Indicas. NY White Rhino and Royal Kush. There are also some clones that are Lemon Skunk and Hash Plant X Haze. I have a couple in ICU for mothers later.

I gave the plants a couple days under clone/mother area to get settled. Then 4-5 hrs under MH, then 8-10. Now they're up to 18. :bigjoint: Here are the 6 I'm thinking of choosing. The Ones I'll choose will be the NY White Rhino and Royal Kush. I want the heights staying level.

My Soil Mix is 1 c.ft Soil
1 c.ft Potting Soil
8 qt Perlite
8 qt. Vermiculite
1 cup Dolomite Lime
1/2 cup Epsom salt

I'll add Blood Meal and Bone Meal (2 to 1) when I get Blood Meal that isn't from Miracle Grow (hate them) or isn't way over-priced)

Subscribed, pulling up a chair to watch

are you going organic? I would just use a potting mix (soiless) over a soil but I'm not into organic :bigjoint:

Looking good so far

I've been watching the 12 plants trying to decide on my 6. Here's some pics. I was thinking #10 but #3 is really looking good today. Here's pics of #2 two days ago then today. I think they're liking the soil mix. I'm going as organic as I can (without making it a pain), but I don't have some hard-ass view on it. Just think it's better. I'll add some more pics of the Mothers for my caregiver. I'm beginning to think my caregiver is learning as he goes, and is a ways behind me in botanical knowledge (not bragging by any means). I'll get a post with the ICU area (to keep us entertained, and experiment with) :eyesmoke:

Here's those clones for my caregiver. He wanted them started in the fast rooting foam things he brought. He brought me branches instead of what I would have done. I gave them over 2 weeks and they were beginning to worry me, and he looked at them and agreed better go to dirt. They had tiny roots (and not much of them) if any. I wouldn't have used pots nearly as big for quite a while. The first pic is right after they got potted. I've been misting them and nursing them. #3 in back right starting looking wounded so I domed it yesterday. I gave a shot of something (ICU secret for now) and it's looking better today. Pic 014 then 018 is next day and I think she may recover. I Domed the Lemon Skunk #5 this morning cause it she needed it, and put #3's dome back over her.

Well, since I'm starting something that will be going on for sometime I should throw up a paragraph or two about myself. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in December of 2009 after some Dr. visits and a couple MRI's. I injured my back in the late summer, and it was the trigger for a relapse. :-( It ended up being a herniated disc, which I am now trying to rehab. I was prescribed Cannabis for lower back pain (a many year issue) in July 2009. I had to move across the state to be near my new Neurologist. I worked on this grow room to be able to afford medicine. Cannabis helps with spasticity to a HUGE extent for me.
I spent the spring and summer landscaping for an old family friend, and have done a lot of landscaping on my property. My mother is a Master Gardener and I've helped her with houseplants, and her lawn projects since I was a child. I'm a firm believer that one should be a "Jack of All Trades and a Master of None." and that specialization is for ants.:weed:
Well, enough stoned rambling.:eyesmoke:

:razz:My caregiver came over this afternoon, so I picked out my 6 from the 12 good clones. He also grabbed 3 of the Mother plants. I'm gonna keep the 2 I have the domes on for a few more days. They need more close care. The first pic is the 6 I choose. I decided on #3 instead of #10. The second pic I obviously re-numbered them and named them. #11 became #1 and #7 became #5.:eyesmoke: I'll trim those yellowing fan leaves on #5 & #6 before the light goes out tonight or tomorrow. I figure they did their work getting them from the aero-cloner to the 400 w MH.

yea they have a fan a couple feet away, but that doesn't really make the stems thicker. The wilted ones should pick up today. Last night they (#5, #6) got watered before they're 6 hr. nap. :bigjoint: They are only into Full 18 hr MH for their 3rd day now. I'm not worried about the weight from the new growth, cause they will have a lot of weight to get used to in the coming weeks.

Nicely done, like the look of your room.

toughest part to all this for me is trying to get everything in the room just right.

Look forward to seeing what you get!

Well I figure I better put up pics of our Intensive Care Unit. :eyesmoke: We started with 6 that were wounded and wanted to save (&experiment) with them. I'm working on 2 and my Mom (Hippie Gardener) started with 4. The clones I started with were pretty rough.:-( My caregiver is playing catch up, and I get the feeling I will be helping him as we go on. They were under a dome and getting misted for a week. On 3-9 through 3-14 I got the clones into soil, so the 12th to 14th these 6 were put in ICU. We started in little Jiffy Pots, and a misting every day or 2 of a secret the Hippie Gardener uses. I'm sure she'll reveal it at some point.:peace: We misted them with tap water often.
She called death for 1 after 5 days. So she's down to 3. The pic of the cloner shows #14 now#8 in the bottom right corner. #13 seems to be recovering and renumbered it #7, so when they go to the Veg area they'll match (and i named #7 pepe for the skunk). Of the Hippie Gardner's 3 the Center one is a Lemon Skunk or a Hash Plant X Haze. The Left one is trying at make it, and the Right one is trying to get some roots started. I water my 2 with water from my Koi tank. I also used that water for the clones as they went into the dirt.
Glad to see people checking out my journal. Working with these plants is therapy for me too. :bigjoint:

Hey--It's the Hippie Gardener--I wanted to be the Ole Grandma Hippie Gardener but that's a mouthful! It's amazing to me how advanced the medical marijuana growers have become. Being a Virgo and growing up on a farm has given me a respect and love for the soil and plants. We try to research and compare what we're learning to nature. Gardening has been my passion for over forty years and I'm learning to apply that love to growing marijuana. Thanks for following our journal. Let's talk!

Here's some more pics of the ICU girls. The Hippie Gardener pronounced 1 of her's this morning. I'll number her's #9 & 10 and she'll name them soon. (I'm trying to keep good numbering and datelines this time, 7 yrs ago I flailed on it. Plus it was blatant evidence back then:finger: ) The last pics is their first day in soil and that night they went under the dome. My mother/clone area is 20/4 light timing by the way and temps 70's to low 80's. now that they are doing better we've given them a couple hr's under the MH yesterday and today. I'll get a update on the key 6 today
