weird question for experienced growers

So I know people chop the top buds and let the lower mature a llittle longer, sometimes a week or two.

What would be the difference in doing the opposite. Cutting the lower branches\buds and letting the top continue?

I ask because I have a plant that has slightly hermied, but only on the lower 1\2 of the plant.

I don't want to risk my others ladies on my first grow.

I am soil growing and a little more than 5 weeks into flowering.

I believe the hermi condition was caused by light issues. My sister got attacked by a pitbull and I had to be away for a few days. I have been plucking but they continue to come back.

you should get that plant out of your room immediately if its a herm. dont risk your good plants over it.

It's not hermied really badly or obviuosly. Just a few nanners each day. Like 8-10. The plant is a full x-mas tree about 4.5 ft. tall.

I have been told I can just pluck the nanners, but I want to minimize my risk while trying to glean a little more from the main cola which would be a nice one if there is some way I can let it go.
