Weird dimensions grow space setup

Hello forum, this is my first post here. So I want to start growing and I have a really nice spot, but it has strange dimensions. It is 17ft long and about 2ft wide and 6ft tall. How should I set this up? I am planning on just lining them all up on one side so that I can water the ones in the back. Will I still be able to get to the back when the plants are fully grown? It is only 2 ft wide.

I really need help on how to light this. I am planning on growing black widows. I was going to use hps/mh but I just don't think that it would be practical in my setup. What would you guys recommend for this setup. Also, I can not have the electricity bill be changed by a large amount, say more than 150$. What would it cost to light that space (roughly) with hps/mh since I know that they use more electricity than cfls.

By the way, I have never grown before, just in case that is relevant.

You could do one 400w setup, it will cover 3x3feet( in your case 2x2area) area at max. you should grow 2-3 plants in there so they have enough space to grow. make sure to put the proper amount of mylar since you will be limited in space you really want to cash in bouncing the light around in there.

Ooh mr. nice seeds? Lucky you..

For HID, you could use 250s for 400s. Maybe a 250w every 2 feet or a 400w every 3 feet.
For that kind of area, you could also consider light movers. They're about 4' long. You could run 4x400s on 4 light rails, which will cover ~16 feet.

If you want to train your plants, (google SCROG), you might be able to get away with 4 t5 fixtures lined up.

The dude above said it, you'll want to use some kind of reflective material or make sure your walls are painted white.

For electricity, it's simple:

(Total wattage of fixtures) X (# of hours running per day) / 1000. This will give you kwh/day. Look at your electricity bill and see what they charge you per kwh. Multiply that times your kwh/day, and that's your cost per day to run your lights.

This is why they made you take algebra 1 in middle school

Thanks for the responses. I wanted to start it right with mr nice! How many plants do you think that I should put in there? I am not going to do scrog since this is my first grow. I am just going to keep it as simple as possible. Also, does anyone know what a decent yield per plant would be from a black widow (or white)?

So if I do 4x400w hps is (4)400*18/1000=28.8 * .1 cents is 3 dollars a day. Is that right? So about 90$ a month for the electricity? Does the yield/quality suffer if you use cfls? I am still living with my folks, would rather have it be discreet when it comes to the energy bill. 90$ per month is like an average energy bill, it would be too noticeable. So what do you guys think the best way to setup for cfls would be?

"This is why they made you take algebra 1 in middle school" I would hope that this is not the reason that we take algebra ;)

Is it such a good idea to grow dope in your parents house? Do they know about your little endeavor? The last thing you want to do is get them or yourself in trouble. How are you planning on controlling the smell? (if in fact they're unaware of your intended hobby)..

Puff.

Of course I have considered that possibility. But I am not too worried about them noticing. It is in a discrete part of the house and I plan on using a carbon filter to get rid of the smell. Even if they do find out, I don't think they would care too much.

A discrete 17' x 2' spot in the parents house that they may not notice? Is it inside a false wall?

Don't take me wrong, I'm not discouraging you but be careful. You already know the trouble you could get your parents into.

It is an unused location, similar to a crawlspace, just in the basement. I am actually planning on putting a sort of false wall in actually :) It is not my parents that are my main concern though.

Does anybody know how wide white widows usually get? Hopefully I will be able to fit. I am thinking that I will put two 600s to flower 12 plants. And use the other space to veg on two levels. Any thoughts on this?
