Weird bug hole ?

Looks like the borer's i got in mine last summer outdoors. Sawdust looking shit outside the hole.
I had branches snapping off and found a main hole at the base of the plant. Cutting a branch in half revealed bugs tunneling in the stems and stalk.
Hope that isnt what you got going on

I think boatguy is right. Squash borers. Good eye on spotting the hole. Usually you notice them when they eat enough inside the stem to make it droop. Those are laid by moths at night. Applying Bt might do the trick if you can spray the worms before they bore into your stem.

IMO, borers are one of the worst pests to have because they usually will kill anything above the bore hole. Also, there are a bunch of wood boring insects including beetles so its not necessarily squash borer moths you have to look out for. I would split the branch open and try to ID the specific borer you're dealing with.
