Hey whats up everyone seems to me like i have problem or im just not being patient enough. I put her in my first ever dwc i transffered from roots organic orignal soil a few days ago and she didnt wilt at all so i thought every thing went great well the last two days ive noticed she is turning a little bit yellow on me. Could this be just because she is getting used to the water instead of the soil? I am feeding her home grown aqua flakes a and b thats it. Im following there schedule they have on their webiste to the T. Very light nutes maybe not enough? Room is nice and cool water is at 73.4 degrees or 23 Celsius everything should be good right? She is under a 600W metal halide about 24 inches away. Setup in a 5 gallon bucket with an air stone. What do you all think?

How did you go from soil to dwc? Just curious as to whats going on under those clay pellets. That's a pretty small plant, how are the roots? hanging down into water? Again just curious as to what you did to transplant it.

i carefully and slowly ran the roots under water until the roots were clean. The plant was really stretchy so i basically replanted as if it was soil but under the clay pellets i have one root coming out of the net pot. Cleaning the roots was actually much easier then i thought it would be.

Just wanted to be sure you just didn't throw it in the clay pellets with the soil and everything, hey you'd be surprised. I've never rinsed roots before, I know other people do it, or have done it. It could be stressing over the transplant and its new environment.

Never hurts to ask. Biggest things with dwc is total dissolved oxygen and reservoir/bucket temperature. The latter effects the first one. I see you're already watching the temps so you're on the right path.

what do you think is the ideal temp to achieve? I really love soils but ive always wanted to give this a try. Ive been told if i get it right i wont go back lol we shall see

I believe water holds the most dissolved oxygen somewhere around 60 degrees... I'm not 100% sure on that. I know that's the main reason, there are other reasons, you need to make sure your temps don't get into the 80's because the warmer water gets the less dissolved oxygen it can hold... your plants drown. Its hard to get the temps that low without a water chiller, especially once you add in the effect of the warm air from the airstone(s). The main reason I abandoned dwc, for now anyways, was because I wasn't going to buy a water chiller. To me aeroponics makes more sense then dwc. I don't use either however.

68F optimal for DWC. less than 65F is too cold. get in the 70s and you normally get root rot. i preferred running sterile res with dutchmaster zone in my dwcs even with a chiller. healthy root zone is key to huge fruits.

try to let your pH go from 5.5 to 6.1. different nutes are absorbed at different pH levels. whenever you see a problem, i would always just flush her with 5.8 water for 24 hrs. things can go horribly wrong very quickly in dwc since the roots are always in solution.

That plant doesn't look to bad. Soil root structure is different than hydro and it may take a week or so for it to adjust. I wouldn't do the nutrient top off on a plant this young, it isn't using enough nutes right now. Mix your res at whatever strength you are shooting for, by the looks of that plant you should be 1/4 to 1/2 strength, and top off with plain RO or tap water if it's needed. Once it gets bigger and starts drinking alot of water/nutes, then you can add back if you want. I don't ever add back on veg plants, I haven't seen a need for it with the nutes I'm running, I've actually had to cut back on my nutes, but I don't grow huge plants either. I've done an add back or two in flower but again only if i see a need.

I don't want to rain on your parade bro but going from soil to hydro will pretty much fuck you. The problem is the plant goes through massive shock when you wash off all the soil. The roots have little tiny hairs all over them. When you wash off the soil you damage the root hairs and it takes a long time for the plant to recover. Also, soil contains naturally occurring bacteria. There is good bacteria and there is bad bacteria. Some bacteria actually help the plant. We call that "Beneficial Bacteria" or Bennies for short. There is also bad bacteria, we call that "Fuck Me". Even though you may think you had washed off all the soil from the roots chances are there was still a little left. Any little soil fragments could be harboring the bad shit.

So I guess what I'm saying is... To keep from killing the plant you have to wash all the soil off the roots....which will kill the plant... How do I know all this? I'll give you one guess.

If your plant lives pat yourself on the back but don't be surprised it it just sits there looking kind of unhappy... like an old girlfriend.

If you don't have a GREAT source for clones then buy some seeds. I buy my seeds from Attitude Seed Bank. Kosher Kush has won the Cannabis Cup three times and it's every bit as good as they say. If you can't get a clone of OG Kush (SFV cut) then buy the Kosher Kush seeds. Oh yea, good seeds also have "Hybrid Vigor" which basically means they fucking rock the howzz!

Soil to water culture-----russian roulette with a half loaded cylinder. IMO, that plant was way too small to even try that----if it lives---go to vegas.

I've tried it a few times (hated it) about 50% death rate.

I've never had a problem caused by mid 70s nute temp------But I agree high 60s is a little safer.

Thanks for the responses and it looks like im going to Vegas baby! lol she definitely lived shes got quite a good amount of shoots on her now. I still wouldnt call her perfect unfortunately she is yellowish still. She atleast doubled in size and roots have reached down into the water they look nice and white but my plant is still a faint green yellow. Ph is steady at 5.8. I want to get this right but looking at my girls in soil i want to kick the water bucket over and fill it up with soil lol.
