Too hot. Even CFL's put out a fair bit of heat. If you can touch the bulb with your bare hands then it would be fine but even my 32W spirals put out enough heat to cook plants at short range.
Week old Jack-47.Purple and yellow leafs, curling. Need help.

Alright ill make sure she isnt getting cooked. But wont the light penatraion be poor if it sits 3 in from the top. according to my thermometer it will raley get above 80F, the reader is sitting right above the tops of the plant. i have pretty good air circlation, 4in duct fan for in and a 6induc for the out. Not sure if this is going to cut it when i bring in the 250hps....tent is 4x2x7ft.

He means heat.if your using CFL's you can keep the bulb litterally inches away from the plant.but if your using hps or mh the bulbs get too hot so they need to be about 6 or 7 in away from your plants or it will burn em..signs of burning are tips of leaves curling down,and plant leaves are looking dry and or dying

And no the light penetration on the plants isnt going to change,as long as your using the right wattage for the size of the room ur using

Im using the 18/6off, seems to be working for me. I was told not to use nutes untill the 2nd week. In my case im not going to use them till the third cause i started them in the fox farm O.F. and i guess its really hot for seedlings, next time ill have to start them in the lw so the nut burn stays away from me and my laddies
. I would say if your soil has fert and nut to wait till the 3rd week to let your plant use up that till you add in the good stuff...not 100% though. hope that helpsThanks im doing 18/6 too. Thanks man you too, ill have a grow journal up soon if you want to check it out. as of right now its going to be a sweet seeds jack47 and a gh bubba kush...but im not sure if its going to grow, its been the same size for the last 2 days, going to try and get it in some lw soil cause its just not liking the ff ocean forest right now. If it dosnt make it ill probly start another jack47 or a gh super lemon haze

ok so im now on week 4 of veg and the tips and the sids of the leafs are brown and drying up. The new ones coming in on the side are a bright yellow.. my thoughs are nut burn or in need of nuts. just not sure of what ones it needs? I also transplanted them from a half gal. into a 4 gal thinking thta it might help, but i still have the same problem.
If anyone knows what might be causeing this and what i should do that would be great.
The pictures i got arnt the best but you can get an idea on what im talking about. Im sure its a commin problem just couldnt find anything on it.

looks like im alone on this...plant seems to be getting worst everyday and i just dont really know what to do...
almost all the leafs are turning this rust color on the tips and the edges, at first it was only some of the leafs and not much. but now its just about every leaf and the entire leaf.and its not growing anymore. can someone help me befor its to late. this is really getting to my head. thought this site was to help you out..................................
