i disagree, i like to trim all leaves off about 2 weeks before they get picked. It'll expand the buds a lot more

youve done this? sounds good to me so long as its backed by your experience. id give it a try

but have you tried it without trimming and compared to when you took the leaves off? late

ive only trimmed my grow, never just let it do its thing. but most growers come to the concensus that trimming does help aid the top buds growth

i know that. i lollipop mine a lot. but what i am saying is the fan leaves are energy producers for the plant. with this in mind, you are saying take them off to fatten up the buds...first of all the buds of most strains fatten up a lot during the last 2 weeks anyways, and the fact that you have not tried a cycle without removing them means that you may not know weather it helps or not. just thought the originator of this ppst might appreciate my insight on the subject so he doesnt go and blindly start hacking off helpful leaves due to your possibly ill informed advice. no offence, late

wtf, wheres your experience on the matter, other than coming back with an equally unbacked post? are you just trying to give an alternative explanation or do you have some proof, or knowledge to this effect. im giving him what most growers say, and i doubt most growers would follow a less productive method. so, ya know, do whatever ya want. im not on mythbusters or anything, just saying what MY experience is. it all comes with just doin it yourself. also no offense. just dont know where your going with this.

and i did say only take off the leaves that arent getting light. dont go trimming off leaves that are being productive, obviously. trim off the leaves that are too low and covered to be receiving any valuable light, yet still require nutrients and water, since these fan leaves, whos function is to aid in sugar production, are counterproductive at this level. in nature sunlight would hit from many angles throughout the day, whereas in an artificial environment they do not get anything but overhead lighting. so i hope that helps somewhat

my original reply was asking if "bigtguy" had done both since he was so sure about removing ALL of the fan leaves to FATTEN UP the budz. but i am wondering if he has seen the difference, or just thought that hacking them off fattens the buds and perhaps got the natural life cycle of the plant confused with his attempt to modify the results. since he saw them fatten up in the last 2 weeks which happens anyways in many strains.

and for you magus all i was doing was stating that youngmoney420 may not want to take this advise of taking fan leaves off the whole plant because some dude(bigtguy)said it would work. your advice on the other hand is good about removing the lower fan leaves and as we all know our gardens are too precious to just change the way we do things because someone says they do this and dont really now the effect.

i heard george juveres or whatever his name is the famous weed book writer said you shouldnt pull any leaf unless 50% of it is not green anymore. the leaves are the engine that product the buds
