Week 5 flower(time to flush for harvest?)

Hey guys I know that a general rule of thumb is to flower till week 6 and flush for 2 weeks(till week 8) and then you harvest. I have heard that some strains ripen faster or slower then other. For instance some strains are supposed to finish in as little as 50 days where others can take up to 90 days, but i believe that most strains finish in between 50-70 days. Anyway I have this strain called purple ponic. I would say almost 50% if not a little more of the hairs are dieing back. It is also quite frosted.

She is on week 5 and I was wondering if you guys think I should start flushing so i can harvest on week 7?

Yea, you should be good to harvest in 2 weeks.
Hey thanks. If I fed it an extra week and then harvested 2 weeks later do you think I would get over ripe bud? I am just asking because I don't want to rush it and get bud that isn't fully ripe or over ripe. It's my first grow so I am very unfamiliar. I have read a lot about it but I just thought I could get some opinions as well.

i think this would be best. over ripe would probably be 5 more weeks. if you harvest at 8-9 weeks i think you will be perfect.

Hey guys I saw some amber trichs on the tips of my leaves. Does that mean I should flush immediately. I didn't notice them yesterday.

I want to wait and do it 8 weeks but im so apprehensive of harvesting to late. I don't mean to offend you guys by doubting your word. Do you see the amber trichs on the tips of some leaves

this is what they look like today.

that looks really far along for 5 weeks. are you sue that you have kept track right? not doubting you, just those look really far along for 5 weeks. i would really never cut a plant before 8 weeks. people rarely take plants too late, but too early all the time

That's the thing! It does look really far for 5 weeks. The thing is I have purple ponic(pictured above) trainwreck, tsunami, and maui. I flowered all of them at the same time on July 25th inside then I moved them outside. The other plants don't look nearly as swollen and don't have nearly as many died back hairs as the purple ponic does. I am really thinking its one of those early strains. Don't some strains finish in 45 days?

Here are some pics of the others that were taken at the same time. The purple ponic looks a lot farther along then the others doesn't it.

maui

I heard you should get a magnifying glass and see What the majority of the trich's look like. they say %50 milky and %50 amber is the best.

Go to radioshack ask where the microscopes are. They should have a 60-100x microscope for 12 bucks, it's the best thing you can do to determine when to harvest. I have one, It's so awesome to look at the trichomes so close also.

Ya i have one of those scopes and a magnifying class. I've been checkin the trichs recently and its about done. mostly cloudy heads with a few amber heads. My friend uses neem oil to help keep bugs away. To be honest I didn't use anything except for protekt silica witch is suppose to help guard against bugs(because they don't like the taste or it's to hard for them to bite) unfortunately one of them had a few caterpillers:finger:. I was so angry to see those bastards. I knew I should have used neem oil a while ago, but i hadn't planned on doing it outside. I started inside and didn't realize how big they would get haha.
