Week 3 and can't keep leggy seedlings up

Hello everyone, new to this site and looking for some help. some experience growing but can't do anything too technical due to location. So I'm around 3 weeks in from planting several seeds in 6 inch deep container (all in the same one) and I cannot keep half of the leggy buggers to stand at attention. They are about 7 inches tall as of now. The slightest thing knocks a few of them right down. so I"m finding myself trying to support them with more dirt.

I'd like to transplant them into larger pots and move them outdoors but they are too frail. I'm not over watering, but lighting might be the only problem. I had them under flouro's for a while, saw the results I was getting, and moved them into an area indoors where they get direct sunlight for a nice amount of time. My question is , what raises any red flags from what I've said and is there anything i can do to salvage them.

:leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:Thanks for your time peoples. :leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

i would transplant em and burry the stems all the way to the first nodes. and maybe pack the dirt jus a bit to give em some stability. from the sounds of it they arent getting enough light if the stem is to weak to keep themselfs upright. wut flouros did you have them under? watts, etc..
right off hand i say do the transplant (or add more soil) and figure out a way to get them some good lighting

yes that cud also be a big factor. and most people think the force of the fan blowing on the plant makes the stem stronger, when actually it is just the air flow(reenacting nature) that makes the whole plant stronger, n healthier. thus resulting in thicker stems =]

Get them seperated and burry a bit deeper. if you plan on doing an indor grow get you some CFL's and get them about 2 or 3 inches from the seedlings. also get a fan blowing close to them so the stems will thicken. dont put the fan right on them. keep your temps close to 85 or 90 for the seedlings and 70% humidity if possible.

Get some more powerful lights, ASAP, or your plants will be ruined from excessive stretching(if it's not too late already). Also, your idea to seperate them, is very important, because they'll choke each other out if you leave them together like that. Just be careful to not damage the roots too bad when you transplant, 'cause they'll have intertwined with each other already, and difficult to seperate. :)

thanks a lot. I'll be transplanting them into separate pots in the morning after I expand my grow area for the larger pots. I had them under 150 Watts all together because i thought it would be enough for such a compact space especially for the first few weeks (2ft high by 3 ft wide, white walls) I guess it wasn't, but I'm going to triple the wattage after i bury them because I'm trying to keep these ladies short. Completely forgot about the fan. I'm definitely going to install a small one. Thanks for helping me out. I'll keep you posted.

well how far away were your lights? even with enough light, they will stretch like crazy if there to far away. with flouros u usually wanna go 3-5 inches away depending on how warm the bulb is. go AS CLOSE AS U CAN!

150 watts of what type of lighting? I'm asking, because it's pretty common for the new guys to mistake CFLs for a higher wattage. For example...a 23 watt bulb is advertised as "100 watts", but that's only for comparison. It's saying that the CFL has the same light output as a regular 100 watt incandescent bulb, but only uses 23 watts. The "23 watts" is the number you need to look for, when it comes to growing. :)
