We start with a quart or two of water in a crockpot on high, add three lbs of butter and six zips of quality trim, for a two ounces to one pound ratio.

Put the trim thru a food processor to break it into powder, then add it to the crockpot and stir well. Let it cook for 6-8 hours, then strain the budder out of the mixture with cheesecloth and discard the solids. The harder you squeeze, the more budder you'll get back. Return the budder to the crockpot.

To clarify, chill the crock until the budder solidifies and then take it out and set it aside, then empty the rest of the fluid water and solids out of the crockpot. Put the budder back in and pour boiling water over it to fully melt it, usually one teapot's worth will do it. Stir, then chill the crockpot to solidify the budder again. Repeat the melting process three times, discarding the water each time. You'll see that the water goes from a nasty dark greenish to almost clear. This will make your budder taste a lot less 'green'.

Using this recipe for the budder will all but guarantee potent baked goods!

We have not found the very best way to squeeze ALL of the budder out of the trim, so suggestions would be appreciated!

A potato ricer works well for the squeeze.

(Learned that from here).

Also if you pour boiling water over your leftover leaf bits at the end you get a lot out too.

I've never tried the triple boil/ clarifying steps. Usually just cook for 24 hours in the crock pot, strain, and then after it separates its done.

Out of the couple different ways I've seen it done.. like to hash out the trim with bubblebags, then make butter. Takes a little more work but i think it tastes way better..never tastes even a little green, and i swear the effect are better. Try for between .2 and .4g's of hash per cookie..HeeHee:fire:

BAM! We're gonna get one TODAY! Great suggestion, thank you! Beats the shit out of sitting on the ball for a few minutes to squeeze it... pressed ASS somehow just isn't the same!

Will also use the boiling water rinse. Goodness knows we were tired of using three pounds of butter to get two back!

Colorado is crammed full of oil snobs who want nothing to do with bubble hash, so I'm wondering if kief might do? I have plenty of that laying around... :bigjoint:

Do you decarb it or does it happen while your medibles bake in the oven?

I understand the love for concentrates, but I like variety, different methods have different effects.

It's been a few years since we did it, so I'm a little fuzzy but we made butter kinda like you described up there ^, but instead of a slow cook in a crock pot, we did it in a pot on the stove and boiled it with water for, i think 45-60 mins, then cooled overnight and separated. I think we kept a 1:1 butter:water ratio most of the time it was boiling, had a kettle of water going to top off. Then made cookies. Me and a buddy were talking about it and we don't think normal sized cookies cook long enough to decarb them. The last two times we made cookies, we made BIG cookies, about 3X a normal cookie, that took 23-25 mins to cook at around 325-350F and think it made a difference in the potency., but have no way of confirming it.

I fear the force necessary to get the last bits out would be too much for it...
I'm getting to a point where getting every last drop isn't really worth it..not just that, but everything.. My old corporate job put the mentality in my head, if i can get 80% in the first 5 seconds..but it takes another 5 seconds to get the last 20% as it drips out , it's not worth it..

Best way to make edibles is with a crock pot. Grind ur weed , slow simmer in oil...the higher fat content in olive or coconut oil extracts more the than butter or water. 1 ounce per cup is my ratio...but I like my edibles strong. I made garlic canna butter for garlic toast. Wasn't as strong as the oil (used for brownies and such. But to jack up my oil I also collect my grinder Kief and add that...usually around a quarter Oz.

By far the best method is via water extraction. .meaning u extract with bubble bags and let it dry...then cook with it.

Only decarb buds and shake...unless it's super dry...just add ur Kief to any batter. Cook as directed. ..do not over bake! !!

Here in the privately funded world, we do things a bit differently. I'd love to not give a shit about the last twenty percent, but if it's worth more than the energy it takes to get it, then it's money. Money is not to be wasted. That's from the oilfields... not that I was ever a roughneck.

No i understand. I'm a little f'ed up like that..I'll throw something like that out because i don't want to deal with getting the last little bit out, but I'll bitch at someone for brushing the little dust of herb of a tray after packing a bowl..years ago i actually collected that every time we smoked to prove it added up faster than my friends thought..it didn't..lol.

Any of you guys use soy lecithin? Last time I made edibles I used 1/2oz sugar trim, 1/4oz bud and a few caps of soy lecithin ----> dozen brownies. My old roommate ate one and faceplanted on the tile floor a few times. ^.^ great mems. My next project will be candies!!!! YEEEEEHEHEHE
