Ways to Increase yield

I read the other day that when you water your plants the PH should be 5.8 (since thats the PH of rain water) and when feeding nutrients the PH should be 6.5-6.8 for soil, Is the 5.8 PH for watering correct?
It's what I do :bigjoint:

It's what I do :bigjoint:
and comming from a grower like you, i'll be doing the same from now on :blsmoke:
Just a Q though, I use rain water (live in an area where it rains quite a bit year round, cept for the evil summer ). Anyway on hand I usually have about 3 20 gallon res's full of the rain water. Does the PH shift in that like it does with tap water? I know if I have tap water sitting for a few days my PH will shift (from research and what I have been told the temperature can fluxuate PH at times) But do you even check the ph of the rain water of just water it? Just wondering cause w/e I fill the jugs up with it i usually just automatically ph it for what i need. (usually bringing both the water and nutrient solution to around 6.5-6.8). If it'll save me some time checking PH on the water that'll be nice, we all know growing can be a little time consuming when taking care of things :bigjoint: I know I can do an experiment myself but I smoke a lot i'll forget next time i water :-D.

And thank you for the help mate happy growing :weed:

Yes the PH of stored rain water will increase

I don't use rain water, I simply ph my tap water to 5.8
then ph my nutes to 6.5 to 6.8

you can read exactly how I do it here

and follow the mentioned ph experiments in my goin loco journal

Ok. I've heard a few things. UVB lights sound interesting to me, due to the actual science behind it. I'll be looking forward to trying that. Molasses and (sugar?) have been tried and held true. As far as growing techniques: LST is in fact a low stress training - I know if someone wanted me to make something for them, the last thing I'd want is to be crushed and bent (Supercropping) and molested in strange ways. Topping is valuable in the fact that you can get multiple tops. But you need to be able to love on your girls afterwards so they can rebound from the process as best they can. I'm excited to use Superthrive, but in moderation because I am a man of a tasty, clean smoke as well as a potent one. In theory, too little of anything (especially uneccessary things like Superthrive) is DEFINITElY better than too much. Your light placement is key, especially with less powerful lights (which I never saw specified, but I might as well include it.) When I grew CFl (which i did for hobby... it's ok, you don't need to criticize me for it) I didn't go with any conventional set-up. I arranged mine specifically so it would accomodate how I grew my plants. Obviously the correct nutrients, including some sort of bloom booster/flower booster. Be sure to use just water between heavy doses of chemicals, unless you just enjoy bud that tastes like a factory floor. DON'T CUT ANY LEAVES OFF! I'm sorry, regardless of what evidence there is supporting otherwise; use your head! Does a plant chop its leaves off in the wild? They use leaves for a specific purpose, of which are very important to plants. Logically it just makes no sense what-so-ever to remove leaves. Only if they're diseased and threatening your plant as a hole (Which you wouldn't let happen to begin with, would you? =P)

Just my two cents.
1...2...3...GROW!!!

I agree that it does have most to do with basics ie: Light, Temps, Genes, Ferts, etc. But when all thats good you can look into other things.
Which brings me to my point.
What do you think would be the best to improve yields:
a second 600 watt HPS, C02 or Bloom Boosters
Ive got a couple hundred im willing to spend to improve yields. Im running a SCROG grow with 600 watt HPS with 4 cool blue CFLs and my biggest problem is that im using the same flowering room (closet) with two separate DWC's on a perpetual cycle under the same lights. So i cant switch the light cycle from 12/12 and i cant VEG them for long, so they basically go into flower as rooted clones and don't yield as much as the first run that i vegged for 2 weeks. kind of a Doozie!
so a 600 for more light, C02 for a supercharge or Boom Boosters? what impacts yield the most i wonder?
any in put would be appreciated!! thanx

My first post here on this fourm. && this is damn good info, I may inbox you my garden. I'd like for you to check out my setup. This information was great man. I thank you for your time in helping noob growers like myself, cheers :-P

molasses? just puttin it in the pot?
you need to get blackstrap molasses. you can find it in a health/organic food store. It's cheap, under $5. Put a few drops of it per gallon of H20. Feed this to the plants during flowering. It will increase yield and make your smoke sweeter.

cutting the leaves off while flowering is a no no the plant isnt able 2 take in light or oxygen and it could stress it 2 death the best way is 2 leave it 2 do its own thing only take off leaves that r 50% or more damaged hopes this helps
since when do plants take in oxygen?
