Watering Advice?

Both my plants look like this, how much does it look like I should be watering? I ask because I've noticed the bottom water leaves are drying up, but the rest of the plant looks fine. I know to at least wait until the first few inches of medium are dry, but I think the roots will grow out more if they are searching for nutrients sometimes. I just don't want to get to the point where I am underwatering

I will begin troubleshooting I suppose, but was wondering if anyone could save me a bit of trouble. Thanks:blsmoke:

you'll know you're underwatering when they wilt, you are overwatering when they die. :)

those first little leaves are always going to be shed once the plant gets going.
