Watering a seedling

Am I right in saying that seedlings (I’m talking they just sprouted yesterday) don’t need watering everyday just like throughout its entire growing life?
Obviously I’m not watering the whole pot at the min, just in the centre for a few days while the roots starts growing then will move to the whole pot.
Anyway because I’m only giving them a tiny amount of water, will this last for an every other day watering kinda thing.
I’m planning on checking them daily but just want to see if I need to check them more than once as I don’t want to let them dry out.
They’re currently under a 250w hps.
Cheers all

Just a couple ounces every 2 to 3 days then after it grows a couple sets of leaves 4 to 6 oz or so. Ish anyways.

Oh right, so that’s to encourage them to search and grow the roots ye?
It just depends on how big your pots are. If solo cup sized then after they get their first set of leaves it is fine to spread out the water a little. If you have a seedling in a 3 or 5 gall etc....then you prolly want to keep it towards the middle the roots won't make it to the outside for a while.

They’re currently in small pots.
When you say leaves, you don’t class the first 2 tiny ones that are on now do you. It’s the next ones that are proper ye?

correct. The first set of leaves are the cotyledon leaves and will upon growth become vestigial in nature. with that being said I leave mine on til they wilt off

I like to let my medium dry out a bit. I have had more problems that have been more difficult to deal with when overwatering then underwatering. You can always add more water, can't really remove water once its there. They don't seem to struggle too much when slightly underwatered imo.

My technique is to water slowly in an outward radiating circle using a condiment bottle for precise titration.
When the medium stops absorbing quickly, I move on.
