Waterfarm Scrog Femd Jack Herrer, 740w LEDs

Hello Guys!
I am happy to be starting this journal. It will be my second harvest using LED lights, the first will be coming in around 3 weeks. With this waterfarm setup, I really wanted to make a SCROG that is able to move with the top part of the bucket. I topped the Jack Herrer yesterday using LBH's Topping-Method. I created this "Colosseum Scrog" for 10 bucks from home depot, using a few pipes and some hemp string. I eye-balled everything and didnt measure much, so it doesnt look too professional, but so be it.

For nutes, I will be using mostly advanced nutrients.
For Lights, in veg I have a 2ft 2bulb t5, and in flowering I have a 500w Blackstar flowering unit and a 240w Blackstar veg unit. I start new plants that enter flowering under the 240, and finish them in the 500w.

Once the plant is ready, I will be training each of four branch up a wall of the colosseum, and continue to train each side branching from one of the main branches.

Comments and questions are welcome! Please no trolls... I understand LED vs HID blah blah, Im not here to sell or promote any product.

This looks cool as all get out man. I like the idea a lot. One thing, is the scrog pvc frame securely attached to the top bucket? i would make sure that sucker will not move the slightest bit. You dont want your lady tweakin around. Also i feel like you could have gone just a bit more horizontal with the frame, to trying to match the light arch/throw of the bulb. As well as used some kind of scrog type fencing to attach to your pipes. Just so you have your checker board pattern to scrog under. But that being said, you can also tie/attach your limbs with something like twist ties, string or wire of some kind. kinda like scrog/lst. I would also try to cover your hydroton pebbles with something like tine foil or panda film. Just to keep the light off your nutrient soaked goods. cuz algae is never welcome! haha anyway, it looks cool though man. I hear Jack Herer stretches a lot, so my guess is you wont have to veg her for too long. Especially sense its in a water farm. Fast and stanky! One last suggestion, if you havent already, look through some of these threads about Waterfarm growing. Theres one from the great Scottyballs that you shouldnt miss for sure.

Yep ive briefly seen the scottyballs tributes. I dont know why its attributed to scottyballs, and I dont know who scottyballs is, but people have been using waterfarms for a long time. I did learn a few things from reading those threads though, like drilling holes on the bottom of the brown bucket. I dont like to cover the pebbles because I like air to be constantly moving around them. I have used waterfarms before and seen them in use by many others, and I have yet to see algae in anyones bucket.

Also about the design, You are fully right, I wish I angled the pipes down a little more to get a more flat screen. Again, this was put together in less than 20 minutes, and I didnt measure a single thing. I just got the idea to build it at Home-Depot actually just yesterday. I wont switch out the parts because I am digging the angle its at right now. I have never seen someone do a scrog at the angle its at right now, starting from the middle of the plant and extending all four directions. Thats why I will be sticking to this angle.

Also, sturdy wise. Those poles are extended to the bottom of the brown bucket. I have a hard time pulling the pipes out yet alone moving them. They are sturdy as rocks :) I also have the intention of doing a checkerboard design later on to it. Its very easy to setup, with just a few drill holes, but I'm thinking I might not need the checker design. These parallel lines will most likely be enough. Ill only be vegging for another two-three weeks more so it wont be monsterous.

Thanks for your reply! Let me know what you think :)

Subbed early I use a water farm and scrog as well also usin LEDs only I'm usin an h150 and a blackstar 240 about 170 watts draw total between the two.

My plan was to make a flat scrog again but screw posts to the outside of the waterfarm with nuts and bolts stainless of course. That way I can check my roots because I ran during summer and got fatty root rot from not runnin heisenbergs magic benni tea that rapes the stuff. It's the only problem with runnin a single water farm instead of a controlled cluster.

Gonna be a good grow man lookin forward to it

She is on a 24/0 timer with the T-5 for the next two-four weeks so she will grow fast.
What led are u using why not veg with it it will more than likely veg faster and not only that stack tighter internode lngths which I'm sure would be helpful for you

Edit : oops missed it see ur usin blackstars my 240 owner unit veged plants faster than my brand new four foot four bulb t5 I just put in my mother room and u got the veg model lol. IMO I'd have that veg 240 blastin it

Yea I would LOVE to put that 240 light in my veg tent. My plan once I switch apartments is to move the 240 into veg and get a second 500. However, for the time being, I cant have the 240 in veg because of time issues. During night, my landlords bed is right under my tent, and he complains about the noise. I have tried every trick known to man for a span of two months and the only solution was to use the 2ft fluorescent for an entire veg, and move the 240 into flowering... I cant even run water pumps. I have an air pump hanging in mid-air with some hemp string, attached it to my 2 deepwater cultures and my waterfarm.

man that sounds crazy, post up some pics Id love to see em. If you like the 240w and think the 500w is only twice as good, think again man! 500w is 10x as good! its so much more bang for your buck. Technically, it only draws 306 or 304w of power but the diodes are dialed in great. I can see my house window light up pink from blocks away.

The seedling emerged out of the ground on 10/14/11, and was put into the waterfarm on 10/19/11. So its around day 21 of veg/seedling stage? I never know how to count the veg cycle because of the seedling stage....

Changed water today, added 400ppm advanced nutes a+b, calmag, and bioroot. Also threw in some ice to the res, freezing cold for the next hour or two. Took out the scrog for now for maximum T5 lighting, I will put it back in in a week or two. Nothing else to report, its a small plant.

BT.. I just realized we have the same set up going.. a 12/12 grow and a waterfarm grow.. wow..
Im really impressed by how quickly your Jack is growing. That is quite an innovative cool scrog frame you have created.
Your also growing one of my favorite strains..I absloutely LOVE Jack Herer and have been wanting to grow him for so long. I hate to spend money on expensive seeds when i have so many on hand. I was very tempted and looked to purchase some in amsterdam in sept but there are some really shady pushy seed dealers in that town and i didnt have a good feeling about it.
It will be a pleasure watching you grow her out here.
good luck and have a killer weekend.

I bet there are some shady fucks over there. But there's got to be a few honest ones that you could get some super kill stuff from too. Hmmm now to figure out who they are before I head over there lol

Haha we have the same setup? Great minds must think alike then! Yea I had a ton of seeds as well, than a friend of mine traded me the Jack herrer seeds for some Jack the ripper seeds, and I began my herrer journey. So far, she is great! I love the Jack herrer because it is the first plant that got me involved with wanting to grow, so I will always have jH around. Later on, I would love my entire tent to be Jack herrers with some clones on the side to add flavor to the harvest.

I did top her around day 9-11. I will be training each branch to go it's separate direction on the net. What I noticed from my feeding schedule is very interesting. I feed her 12 hours per day; the pump is plugged into my flowering tent. Her roots get exposed to heavy oxygen 12 hours per day, and this seemed to make her structure huge! The branch connecting the first leaves to the stalk are huge! They are thicker than my 65day flowering plants... I will not be home until Tuesday so she will grow fast on me.
