I was just curious how everyone is getting there water to theyre site?I have 11 babies that are requiring 10+ gallons a week and its not that easy to get it to my site.So on Monday I took an old garbage can to the site and hid it in some bushes,My plan is to start to fill it this week once its full I'll only take about half of what I usually take,I should only need to fill it once because the can is about 50 to 60 gallons, any suggestions? or comments? :peace:

Sounds like a great idea, I have enough troubles feeding/watering my TWO plants in my BACKYARD, probably because I feed with a 1/2 gallon jug rather then a gallon.

GOOD luck dude.

I don't get it chewwwbakkka. Aren't you still going to have to pack the same amount of water in. Are you just trying to get it over with now and be set for a while?

I figure when its full 50 to 60 gallons, i'll only have to take a few gallons with me everytime rather than 10 gallons everytime.

i wouldnt use stagnant water to water my plants because it tends to build up bacteria. especially from a USED garbage can..... i always bugged out about using that. i always did fresh water from a tap or something, but then again i have like other person to help carry shit so we each just get a backpack and fill jugs of water to carry up. i have 7 growing.

So you will still have to pack the same total amount of water in, no? So there really isn't any positive. The negative is bacterial growth in the water and the reduction of stealth that a 50 gallon barrel brings with it in the bush. It doesn't seem worth while to me.

If you're getting any rain you might get lucky and fill the garbage cans that way too.
Yeah, but a twenty-four inch wide and four-foot deep barrel isn't going to catch any more rain than a container of the same width and like ten inches of depth, unless you're getting four feet of rain in between when you water, in which case you wouldn't be watering and would also be flooded out of your house.

I just don't see (how) the pros (outweigh the cons)

There is a stream not to far from my spot i'll start to use it now that they are requiring so much water, and as far as bacteria and stagnant water I will be adding 5 gallons or so everytime I visit and if the water starts to get bad i'll empty and refill .I'm just looking for an easier option than filling my car with 10 1 gallon jugs and making several trips to get em to my spot.

Maybe its not such a good idea?just the lazy stoner in me I guess.:joint:But i'll still give it a try maybe i'll just fill it half way?

Oh i get it....Your tryin to just have the water supply there w/o bringing it to the site...Well if you dont find an easy way to do it like carrying 10 1gallon jugs out there then i would highly suggest just carrying 2 5gallon 'water bags'...I hate when i have to bring by back pack full of milk cartons to my site..just a huge hastle..these things you can just throw it in your pack pack..cut a hole and have the hose coming out the bottom and just water away...no need in taking all the jugs out each time...

But for the stream and trash can idea i know that would be possible, there are things you can buy to discontaminate it and purify the water but a downside to that idea is it would be pretty shitty if your site got found because of a huge trash can unless you hid it REALLY well...I dont know where your growin but you would know if it were secure or not...also air support would look at that can as a classic sign of a growing area..just be safe bro!! :)

Isn't that exactly what you would do to fill the tank up!?! This is my last post, I promise, but I just don't understand what you are trying to accomplish. Make it harder on yourself now, so it is easier later? That seems like an even trade off until you factor in stagnant water and someone noticing your barrel, then it seems like you're on the losing end.

I'm going to edit this post since I promised I wouldn't post another. Your buddy's dad or whatever probably trucked the tank out their full. That way it would be helpful. But taking x gallons of water out there, to put it in the tank, to let it sit for a few days, to put it on your plants later, seems like a pretty dumb idea. No offense dude. It just doesn't make any sensi!

That would be my concerns too..someone finding the huge barrel and the stagnant water..Unless youre 110% that no one will EVER find it then your cool..Good luck any more opinions feel free to ask! :)

I appreciate all of the feedback,I got the idea from a buddies dad he used to grow a lot years back and said he used to use one,as far as disinfection he said he used to put a bunch of pennies and nickels in the can for disinfection, copper and silver is a natural disinfectant but our nickels are not silver anymore so I will just use a bunch of pennies. And yes the can is hid very well in a big overgrown bush/tree.This sounded like such a good idea yesterday  LOL

But, pennies aren't copper anymore either.

A small quantity of bleach added to the container will do you fine for preventing that bad stuff. ;)

Well it could be a great idea if you have everything planned just right and ahead of time...I heard about the penny trick awhile ago as but they arent copper either anymore...there are tablets you can buy to disinfect as well but you'll need a lot lol...if its well hid then your good to go but just make sure you got some clean water! Also the bin might be hid from people ground level..but just think about over head level (PLANES!)
GOOD LUCK n keep us updated on what ya do!
