Water Reservoirs

What is everyone using for large water reservoirs?

Walmart used to carry a 50 gallon smart bit (I think that's what it was) that was very durable. It looks like it's been replaced by a 45 gallon PowerPacker but is this strong enough, anyone using this new one or have another option that's around the same price ($50)? Thanks

I'm using 2, 20 gallon Rubbermaid totes with a 2" pipe between them.
I've been looking at rv holding tanks as a possibility for a 50 gallon

If you check Craigslist you can find 55 and 60 gal plastic food grade drum for like 10-25 bucks. A lot of places will give them away for free. Around me there’s a local restaurant that will give them away so they don’t have to pay for disposal the downside is mine smelled like tamarac sauce until I hosed them down really well.

Depends on how big youre going.
I have a 90 gallon system that uses one of the long 50 gallon home depot totes for an outside res and I have a 55 gallon barrel to keep it topped off. The tote bows out really bad if you fill it more than like 3/4 of the way full, tested this out before it became my outside res.
I was able to find food grade 55 gallon barrels for $20 local.
Smaller system I just have a 17 gal tote that I fill 15 gallons at a time.
If youre wanting a big holding tank but dont have room to get something big into your space like i did. I got a collapsible 200 gallon holding tank for a pretty reasonable price.

Brute 20 gallon round trash cans won't bow out and are good for small setups.

^ Those are what I run in my larger rooms. They have flat, featureless bottoms which makes them ideal for pumps. Plus you can roll them around.

Garden Centre and look for a slim line water butt

Rubbermaid stock tanks are best. and they can hook together. They also sell auto- topping / float valves for them. Pretty handy. Indestructible.

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. I settled on what Walmart brought in to replace the old bin/tote/truck box. Very sturdy with no bow at all just like the old ones they sold.
