water issues!

Okay so I decided on impulse to plant a seed a friend gave me. I just jumped in and i am now learning as much as I can. Anyway the seed was germinated in paper towels on January 6th and I planted it in the pot on January 8th(same pot as now), so its about a 4 week old plant. It is in a 2' L x 2' W x 4' H grow box. My box has good ventilation and stays 83-86 during the day and a little lower at night with about 60% humidity. I am on 18-6 hour cycle and I cant tell how much I should be watering. I have this plant in an 11'' pot, about 2-1/2 gallons(about 1-3/4 - 2 gallons of soil in it. The soil is dry on top but the leaves are green and not drooping(I don't think), it feels kinda dry when i stick my finger in(hard to tell). I have never REALLY SOAKED the soil because i read of over watering. I am just scared to over water it, and I am using 3 x 100w cfl 6500k.

So my questions are: how does my plant look for 4 weeks? and any ideas on the watering how i should this plant with these variables? Is this enough light? I use tap water but let it sit out for a couple days first. Thanks for any help!

Picture of plant was taken on the 23rd. I only had two lights in there when pic was taken as well. I cant take a picture now of updated box and plant because lights are off.

Your plant looks great !!! you dont have much perlite so id worry about water logging the pots bottom possibly! drainage is key ...how quick does the water drain though (if pretty quick dont worry...after you get the hang of it the best way imho would be by weight! if you have the same size pot just fill it with dry soil and pick it up and compare to a freshly water pot, once you get a feel for it its cake....good luck and keep it up....btw, my moms are in 4x4 pots and i water around every fourth day or so.? remember just cause the top is dry doesn't the bottom is too.. hope this help

Should i get more perlite now? And i have never really filled it with water that much so i am unsure of how fast or well it drains.

You dont need any more perlite! your doing good. Give them some water and dont worry too much about over watering.. just dont do it every single day and your fine. you have barely two gallons of dirt lol it will dry out fine.

you would've added the perlite in the begining when soil was mixed don't add any now...remember plants know what to do! just dont over think shit or mess with em too much.....ph up ph down add this add that...slow down relax....its a weed it'll stay alive with normal minimal care...keep it up she looks great!!
