Is there anyone that can explain water curing to me. It was in the last High Times and it was just a short quick article. Anyone got details on this method?

What are your guy's opinions on water curing. I heard the positive aspects of it is:

- Better taste
- Shorter drying time
- More potent
...etc

I heard the negative aspects:

- Loss of weight
- You have to do it correctly, or it wont work
...etc

Now I'm not 100% sure what I said is true....but what do you guys think?

Will the dehydrator stink after i dry my buds...it's my dads

Or something i can use as a solid substitute?

From what I understand from reading videomans post it, seems like it should be odorless. Dont hold me accountable if it does stink though I have not yet to try this method of curing ...but will be trying it myself once I start my next grow.

Just added this under FAQ. Go to Harvesting and curing. It's there with kudos to Mighty Budda.

It will stink up the room & dehydrator for a short while but it clears right up. My wife and I dehydrated a couple apples and strawberries the next day :-D

** In place of a dehydrator you can hang the buds over a tray to drip for a while then move them into a quick-dry box... something like this:

Also, I think water cure is great for hydro if you don't flush before chopping... I am finding it needs another day or so to get rid of the chems. The main advantage is the speed of the cure and the easier smoke but you trade flavor and weight.

** Also, you can't really screw it up unless you put a lid on the container. I had cut a lot of holes in my lid but after talking with Videoman (who turned me on to this) I pulled the lid off completely and have a fan rippling the surface.

I guess for those in a hurry water cure is a way. I like to take the time and get the best end product which includees a flavor and good strong aroma.I think if you can take months to grow it you can wait an extra week or 2 for a great air dry jar cured smoke.
