water culture question

Hey guys, my friend is building a hydro setup and he is going to use a storage box that is six inches high. My understanding is that this isn't going to be high enough. It'll leave like maybe two inches with the net pots in. What is the proper amount of height needed? He's using a box similar to this one: Sterilite - Underbed Storage Box - 32 Quart - 17568012 Will this work?

It looks like the one on the right, but it is only six inches tall and has four air stones.

IDK bro, it might me too small. Need pics to tell for sure whether or not he will be able to customize it for growing.

I'm also going with bubbleponics. I'm no expert, but I think you need more that 6 inches for the roots to be able to grow. Otherwise, they'll probably get all tangled and grow into the air stones.

He's got the right idea, just the wrong container. I'm using 10 gallon rubbermaids which are like 18 inches high, plenty of room for the roots
