Water cooled $5 Samsung strip build

Was not happy with the spread of my qb288 build for my 2x4 grow box build. Picked up a dozen of the 3k strips to experiment with and this is what I came up with. Running 8 strips with a hlg240h48a. Will run from 104w up to 290w. Took par readings at 12” in the center. 104w = 334 par, 290w = 853 par. Tested the lights air cooled with no fan. At 240w the frame exceeded 130 degrees. The water cooler is just an external radiator. 8EADFCA7-DF4F-406D-A315-114F1E176687.jpeg19A3E87D-B503-4646-BA6A-9AAB3F8B8EBB.jpegD874F78D-1753-402B-A662-373C8BE30200.jpeg930B786C-7E77-4406-8F6A-D177553D4725.jpeg16692C8D-D82C-4535-87B2-4F616C137B1E.jpeg

Damn that's legit craftsmanship man. Not many people have the tools or certainly the know how to do something like that. Impressive!
You're 290watts was verified by a kill-a-watt meter? Cause that's quite a bit higher than I've ever seen anybody say they've gotten out of an HLG-240H. THAT is insane.

You need to get yourself a 2x4 tent, homie! The box is crafty for sure, but a tents reflective walls will help you out a lot! With the work you put in on that fixture, I'm really surprised you don't already have one and are using a box made from project board lol.
A tent will allow you to exhaust and intake a lot better and give you much more dialed in control of your environment

The bottom half of the box is a deep freezer. This is my cold grow box for lettuce. I also have a 2x2 hot box for peppers. I live in Virginia so I am currently not allowed to grow anything useful. When the time comes I have an 8x12 space at my mini farm that has a split ac and heat pump to get me started. Also have an acre of land to expand. Problem is the farm is 25 min from the house. This setup is at my house in the shed.12F407AB-E96D-44DF-8FCC-5FCAC83DF1A8.jpegEDD3BAA3-DA87-46B4-AFD8-A59E22588FFE.jpeg

Yes I use a kill-a-watt meter. I get 168w from my hlg120h. I believe it is accurate because the par #s and efficiency are within normal ranges. Will have to borrow one from my buddy to verify.

Yah... The 120 is actually a 150w driver so that's no surprise but the 240 pulling 290 I dont think I've ever seen before.

Edit: I guess it's not a 150w driver. I swear I was told that.

All my 240h drivers go past 300w. I believe I’ve shown you pics in the past
