I was listening to Glenn Beck today about this and some dude called in and said ... "If he would have waited a few minutes maybe the guy would have moved." If I saw a guy and a crowd, I would have "crawled" the car out of there ... Not floored it like the video shows ...

And if the marching protester wanted to show me a legitimate threat of "great bodily harm" then, I might consider hitting him.
here how the senario when down in my head;
driver "man fuck these protesters and there organised march to shut down the Port of Oakland. I fucking driving right through this shit!"
protester "what the fuck, you gonna hit me man?"
the driver creeps forward. (which, I think is fine)
the protester pounds on the hood of his Benz, and the driver is like fuck it and rams the two of them standing right in front of him.
if this guy isnt charged with a serious charge like attempted murder (using a vehicle as a weapon) or something similar, the whole damn system is fucked! but I am confident that charges will be brought on the driver. we'll see.

I heard that BART officers were first on the scene, and after a few minutes of doin something, let the driver go. Perhaps it was to get the info needed later and to quell a near riot if all parties were to have stayed at the scene.
No matter what, the driver has some serious jail time hanging over his head. He would have just been better off to take it slow and easy ... and then get the hell out of there.

man although its fucked up, you dont really wanna wait around in oakland while a large black male stands in front of your nice white benz! id run his ass over too id be looking around for his homie with a gun to come try and jack my car. and i run his ass over get 10 blocks away call the cops and say " you ran sombody over who you thought was trying to steal your car or whatever you wanna say just say you were fucking "scared for your life" and boom you get to go home. the guy obviously wasent scared of her, he was hitting her hood.

Yes we have to give way to pedestrians but they are no longer considered pedestrians when they are disturbing the peace and public by blocking the road without council consent.
Also he could claim that they attacked his car and damaged it and that he was in a very life threatening situation in which he was unaware what they were going to do next to him.

Ummmm.... I live here in NorCal, not even in Oakland, and this story was all over the news.... so you cant tell me that an organised march from downtown Oakland to the Port was just some pedestrians walking in the road...
FYI, it would have to be "great bodily harm" as if his life were being directly threatened.... not just someone damaging you property...
If you would have done the same thing, than you are as poor of a decision maker as this dumbass was.... ur problem not mine...

the driver shouldn't have run him over i think but that guy banging on the hood (in a way) had it coming to him. you cant smack a hood like that. i mean he could have just got the fuk out of the way and let the driver go about his business but he decided to argue/challenge him for nothing.

If the guy got out the Benz and beat his ass, I wouldnt be saying shit... he deserved something for pounding on the Benz hood...
My only point is you cant just attempt to kill someone, (yes thats what its called when you run someone over on purpose, without justification like "great bodily harm") because they damage your property

Well even then they had no permit to be blocking the road therefore they are disturbing the peace even if they have made the news worldwide. It is the same reason the police have let the driver go free as he has not broken any laws.
And it does not have to be great bodily harm before someone can defend themselves. It only has to be great bodily harm before you can fatally defend yourselve. He didn't kill him he just wounded him or disabled the person to the point that him and his assets were safe from harm.
And no it isn't a stupid decision although it is because he has a merc but it isn't a stupid decision to run him over. If someone was banging on my car like that I would actually probably get out and bash him before I ran him over but being a merc owner he was probably a business man and not a fighter.
It is very possible that the situation could have escalated as the video only shows him running him over and not the 10s-100s of perople that were giving him shit as they walked pass because supposedly he is the 1% even when he probably has a loan like everyone else does for his car.

EDIT" did the guy die? no not even close. He had like small bruises and scratches. He didn't have broken bones. Police said the injuries were to the legs and ankle although they were not serious or life threatening.
