If you want to go that direction just pick a few of those "Private Property - Trespassers will be Shot" signs. Maybe have them up semi close to your spot/spots. Chances are your average Joe isn't going to go sniffing around an area like that. It'll deter more people than you think.
Take it from someone who does a lot of "hiking" Especially if you're in a Castle Doctrine State.
Once upon a time I rented an old farm house on 150 acres. It had a waterway going through it and a pond. Huge field areas and woods. During deer season I spotted hunters out there on 3 occasions in one season and confronted them. I hung up a few of those signs and it stopped completely. The next season I had a guy actually come knocking and asked permission to set up a deer stand out there because he was following the waterway and stumbled on my signs.
I gave him the green light and even let him park in my driveway so that way I'd know he was out there.

if it were my backyard and was in tolerated state would start with a good fence and dog,put a couple tents up and make things look like someone is around always.

first an most important do not tell anyone what you are doing, you will find out the hard way who your friends are and it will hurt. growing out in field in other peoples land protecting your plants is tough. putting them in hard to reach areas will discourage people from walking there but if someone know you have plants in so and so place and they want them not much to do then. if you grow in this this style you will eventually loose some crops it's only a matter of when. I have over the years as this I must operate.

the best thing you can do is put a few extra spots and a few extra plants if this how you will be working. briar patches and far from he road is safe bets to keep people away. don't grow where people travel for recreation.
