it's time to put my plants into the flowering stage and i was just wondering which light would be best for that purpose. i was at the store today and i saw all the different kinds of lights that were available and it just boggled my mind. right now i'm using 4 100watt daylight cfl's. is this all i need or do i need to change the bulbs to something a little softer or warmer. can someone please help me...

Soft white lights are generally 2700k which is the spectrum you want. Look VERY closely on the box, usually somewhere reallllly small it'll say 2700k. If you're attempting to buy the CFLs at wal mart, let me know and I'll be specific as to what kind to buy.

Sorry for the delay, my preference is the GE 26w CFLs that are in a green box. They say 2700k in the bottom right hand corner VERY small. You say you're using 100w CFL but is this the actual wattage or the incandescent equals? (Example, it will say something like 26w = 100w). The only number you need to pay attention to is the first one.

Actually, let me just give you a quick break down. If you go to lowes or home depot (I like home depot more if you have them where you are), you can find 42w CFLs (150w equals). The most you're TYPICALLY going to find at wal mart are 26w (100w equals). If you didn't know, daylight typically equals 6500k (which is vegetative lighting) and soft white (sometimes warm white) are 2700k, used for flowering. However, I find best results while using BOTH.

Give me the info for your setup and I'll tell you what'd work best, flowering wise AND cost wise.
