waited too long to flower****

based on some bad advice i got i waited til my c99 clones were 3ft tall til i went 12/12. the plants look healthy. i put them into flower a week ago. problem is their in 3gallon pots and im told they will need another 2months to finish flowering. im going to bend (lst)them tonight to keep their height reasonable. im worried about getting rootbound before they finish flowering and id rather not transplant again. any advice would be greatly appreciated. can the 3 gallon pots contain them til they finish flowering? thx in advance.

bigger the pot bigger the root bigger the plant. hard to say whether it will definetly be root bound but i'd suggest it probably will, 3' tall in vegging is gonna give u sum impressive roots. i'd go for 5 gall pots and even at that i think they'd be tight.

Ummmmmmmm do you have 12 ft high cieling ( cause I would be more concerned about 7 ft tall plants by end of flower(and yeah that big 5 gal is better)

rule of thumb is 1 gallon per foot of plant growth.. you are already at the max of your 3 gallon pot.. transplanting to a 5 gal pot would be a must, probably still too small.. 5 gallon will be much better than 3 gallon. if you keep em in 3 gal pots throughout the grow, you will be rootbound, not produce nearly as much, basically your yield will suffer greatly..
also wanted to note, you probably have more like 10-12 weeks to go from initiating flowering.

thx for the reply. i know you all are right about transplanting but for a variety of reasons im reluctant to do so. at this point id be content to stay with the 3 gallon pots and get a smaller yield. could i still potentially get an ounce per plant under a 1000wt hps in 3 gallon containers? is the worse case scenario no yield at all or worse?

Go ahead and stuff them in a 5 gal. Give them a week to get their shit together then throw into flower. Tie them over if they get too tall. I sometimes get 7 footers in a 6' tall - light = 5'6" area.

Being root bound can vary from just a small loss of harvest to a really bad scenario if too root bound.

does it matter that i already went 12/12 on them

You will definitely get an ounce per plant if nothing goes wrong but I would definitely transplant into bigger plants...you already this far whats a quick transplant going to do but give you piece of mind.....I know you said you have a variety of reasons why not to transplant but unless your reasons are that serious just transplant you will be glad you did...
