I wanted to keep a seperate journal of my hempy experiment from my soil grow. As this is my second grow ever, and my first try in hempy buckets, I will call it an experiment :bigjoint:. I will be trying some topping and maybe some other things on this grow. Last grow I was hands off as much as I could to be sure I had something to harvest. Still a ways to go for that but looks good there so far.

I will be using 3 clones from my soil grow. One of each, Wonder Woman, White Widow, Indica Aurora. Now when I made these clones, I was just kinda goofing around waiting for some cloning gel to arrive. I just cut them and stuck em in some fox farms light warrior and in a dome. Bout 3 weeks later 3 of the 4 still survived.. Funny that the one strain I made two clones of.. the indica.. would be the one that died. . The mother plants are in the 3rd week of flowering atm, from nirvana fem seed stock. I have a second set of clones rooting now, that were taken last week and done properly with rooting gel. Basicly I wanted a spare set in case one didnt make it hehe. I'll grow them as well if they live, but likely in soil.

Fox farms line of nutes, grow big, big bloom, tiger bloom, and perhaps some AN overdrive. I have read you dont need the big bloom for this setup, but its listed on the fox farm hydro chart.. so I will have to research before I decide if im using that or not.

The first clone to be big enough to transplant is the wonder woman. This doesnt really surprise me , as she was the fastest growing and largest of the mother plants.

Veg will be done in a homemade box I built under cfls and perhaps some flourescent tubes if I think I need them.

Flowering in a 3.5x3.5x6.5 ft tent under 400 hps. may rotate them into the tent if it wont hurt them for a few hrs a day during veg.

Lots of pix :)

First I make a hempy bucket. I painted this tidy cat bucket, which holds 3.5 gallons, so the light cant shine on the roots, and put my hole at the bottom.

pix 1 , pix 2.

Then I fill it with perlite 100% as thats what I have handy. Its pretty dusty by the time you fill that bucket with perlite so I flushed it with about 10 gallons of water phed to 5.9. Then made a hole for my clone.

pix 3

Then I tipped the party cup over while I had my hand cupped around the plant stem gently supporting it. I shook out the loose soil, then I put it in the hole I made and topped it off with perlite and gave it a bit of water. There was still a ball of soil about 1/4 the size of the cup in the roots, but I didnt wanna dmg the roots or stress it any worse so I just buried it in there. I dont expect it will hurt a thing :) Next clone I transplant i'll try to remember to get a pix of the roots.

pix 4

Into the veg box she went under a couple of 25 w 6500k cfls.

pix 5

Heres the veg box, and then the flowering tent with the mother plants. I call them mother plants, cause my clones came from them. I am not keeping them to mother any other clones. They are for me to smoke lol. Three weeks into flowering tomm.

pix 6 and 7.

Bout it for starters, all that was done last nite, today I just lightly watered her with 5.9 phed water. and heres a pix of her from today.

Pix 8

Thats all for today. Comments, suggestions always welcome folks bongsmilie

Todays update.

I transplanted the indica aurora clone to the second hempy bucket, followed the same steps as the wonder woman. I'll be transplanting the white widow in the morning. I will post detailed pix of the roots etc when I do her. Heres the indica in her bucket. Also gave the wonder woman a 1/4 str feeding of grow big.

Today I transplanted the white widow to her hempy bucket.

Some pix of the bucket and the perlite etc..

I pre flushed the perlite with 5.8 phed water, about 4 gallons.

Then got out my clone, squeezed the sides of the cup gently for a bit to loosen the soil up. Then I dumped her out. Check out the roots :) I gently removed as much soil as I could without doing any damage to the roots.

Dug a deep hole in the bucket for her long roots and filled it in gradually till she was in the pot.

Gave her a watering with 5.9 ph water and put her under some cfls.

All three hempy buckets are now in the veg box :) Grow ladies Grow! bongsmilie

sweet stuff man! I've been thinkin bout tryin a hempy grow..... So I'll tag along for this! Do the plants grow faster in hempy (like hydro) then they do in soil?

Welcome aboard. This is my first try at hempy or hydro, so im not sure. I do however have 3 clones from the same mother plants and similar in size that were potted in soil in the last 2 days that we can compare as they grow.

Heres the two wonder woman clones side by side.

The soil clone was taken a week or so into flowering, so it might not be really accurate in grow times.

Yesterdays update.

Yesterday I gave the 3 ladies a feeding of 1/4 str grow big. 1/2 tsp gal. at a ph of 5.9

I decided it was time to top the wonder woman. So I used Uncle Ben's topping technique for 4 top colas and hopefully I got it right.

Heres the pix of her after topping.

Lastly, having a soil grow and a hempy grow at the same time may turn out to be a mistake. LOL Having to have diff nute mixes and water with diff ph for each grow kinda sux. I never thought about that ahead of time. Bong time, then down to the grow room to start the day. bongsmilie

Heres todays update.

I fed the ladies 1/4 big bloom and put them back in the veg box.. not an exciting day lol.

Here they are lounging in the box.

The last pix is two wonder woman clones from the same mom plant.. one taken a month ago, the other two weeks ago when she was just starting to flower. I topped the oldest one, the other has to reveg.. should be an interesting side by side to watch them grow. Those plants grow tall btw and big.. I will likely be doing some kinda lst on them or something experimental this time around hehe.

Yesterdays update.

Foilar fed the lil gals with some grow big, then watered em. Ph in was 5.8, but I tested the ph out of my buckets and it was 7.0 not sure if this is a good thing.

Today I need to feed them, may just flush out the bucket.

Will update later today with pix.

Todays update

Drained the buckets and fed them with 1/4 strength grow big, big bloom mix at 5.8 ph. They all look pretty healthy to me.

I went to lowes and got some new lighting for the veg box. bought 4 dual bulb 4 foot t8 reflectors and 8 6500k bulbs bit over 250 watts and 20,000 lumens for 100 bux. I have room for two more since I think they are cool I will add them for another 125 watts worth. They are cool enough to lay your arm on the bulbs and not burn or hurt. And about half the price of t5 units I looked at on ebay.

I'll be redoing the veg box tommorrow to make it a lil wider so I can hang them.

ordered a bottle of grow big hydro also today.

bout it for today. Heres some pix of the new lighting and the ladies.

So yesterday I did the same thing, grow big, big bloom at 1/4 str.

today I will leave them alone and then give plain water tomm. hoping the grow big hydro shows up before the next feed and will fix this crazy ph goes up overnite every nite.

Yesterday the grow big hydro arrived. I emptied the buckets and ran two gallons of phed water thru each one. Then I did a 1/2 str mix of the grow big hydro and big bloom and fed all 3. New pix tomm.

They look ok to me so far, That wonder woman is just as crazy as its mother.. its gonna be a great plant.

Sweet. Lot of work to tend to 20 plants. I am working on a bigger flower room for next grow.. but I think about 10 will be my limit. Let me know if u do a journal so I can stop by!

Thanks!

April 23rd update.

Drained the three buckets, fed the ladies with 3 tsp/gal grow big hydro. roughly 600ppm phed at 5.9 Runoff ph was 5.9 at approx 330 ppm for all 3. They were browning some on the edges of the lower growth, so I increased the ppm of the nutes, which also matched what the fox farm feeding thing suggested for this week lol.

The Wonder Woman clone that I topped, well her mother plant hermied at 5.5 weeks into flowering and I had to chop it yesterday. Hope this doesnt happen again bleh. The hempy wonder woman clone is growing amazing, and has what looks like it will be a very interesting set of colas and branches in a couple weeks. The Indica and the widow seem to be slow to grow. They were the same with the mother plants in the soil tho too.. I will just give them time.. they look healthy.

Heres some pix!

Cool looking grow man! Scribed and +Rep for a detailed journal. I'm currently doing a similar grow to yours. I'm growing 7 c99xhash plant clones in hempy cups. it's basically the same as the hempy bucket system, but using party size cups instead. Once they rooted in the rockwool cubes they got transplanted into cups filled with paralite and put a drain hole on the side about 1 inch from the bottom and taped the sides of the cups to prevent light on the roots. I let them veg for about a week then flipped them to 12/12. It's kind of a small scale SOG grow. I'm here for the ride and hopefully I can learn a little while i'm here. Keep it up bro!

Todays Update.

I seem to have some burn going on on the smaller two plants, so I flushed thier buckets today and filled them back after drainage with 250ppm grow big hydro and big bloom. They didnt seem to like that last feeding. The big wonder woman looks great of course. im puttin her in the tent under the 400w hps during the day now since I have some extra room in there.
