Anybody have experience with those 2 brands ? Or any suggestions on good cheap bulbs . I plan on tossing them out after 3 months of use . I have experience with hortilux very good I power. Worked very well . and plantmax . did great with all 3 brands. Wonder if these cheaper bulbs will work just as good . running digital Solis tek ballasts .

I had more heat problems with the cheap bulbs. But I have a better fan now also.

i am thinking all these bulbs are the same just like auto parts all different boxes name brands all the same shit . and only a few places actually make them you pay for the brand name i am going to drop a few bucks on the apollo 600 watt hps and see how it works only 19 bucks compared to a 65 horti

When I was reading the spec's on the horti eye vs the vivosun , the was better in every way. You know when you look at the graph of the spectrum , the eye just had more high points. But it'll work .

There dont seem to be too many bad hps bulbs around, that said if i couldnt find reviews and recomendations id rather stick with the tried and tested, many with a competitive price to choose from. Most ive used gave similar results, very hard to compare but in a tighter more dialled in grow more difference might be apparent :-)

Another vote for IPower / Amazon.

Correct me if you wish but I think IPower and Apollo is the exact same product

Have bought Hortilux before. I have a light meter and the Ipower generally outshines the Hortilux. And yes I realize that spectrum coverage trumps the overall lux. I use bulbs for 2 grows using MH and HPS. Right now probably have 4 of each, retired on the shelf. No particular reason..

So I shelf them and buy fresh ones every couple grows. Wish I knew someone just getting set up, I could donate them a few bulbs which in fact are probably perfectly good.

Return on investment on growing gear is ridiculous. Just bought fresh beans for almost $15 and did not flinch.

I have been using a 400w apollo horticulture and am quite happy with it. going to order the vivosun 1000w this time i think. seems legit. i got a carbon filter by vivosun and it was great. built good and quality, and does a great job taking care of smell!

I've been extremely happy with Vivosun products. They're inexpensive and the quality is decent. Most of this stuff is made in the same factories in China anyway. Just different labels. Same thing with nutrients. Same chemical salts made at the same chemical factories.

Your right about a lot of stuff from China but there not all the same, its really uo to the company to specify what they want.

Envirolites were a superior product made in the same factory as the less superior maxibrite cfls at the time.

Mainly its not the Chinese its the company outsourcing to the Chinese that requests the cheapo version.

All bulbs MH and HPS start losing lumens from heat as soon as you plug them in.
If you are a professional growers and not a hobby growers you should change your bulbs on every run.
They are only 20 bucks for the cheap ones do not waste your money buying eye hortilux or the German company I used to get some from.
The new bulb only has to produce three grams more on a cycle to pay for itself and a new bulb every time will do that.
The Apollo works well as do all the cheap bulbs . As you said earlier there are only a couple of company's that make them all around the world .
