Just switch genre's. I think the longest game I've played these passed few years was about 30 hours into Zelda on the Wii. I'm currently 18 hours into Mario Galaxy 2 since the day I got it, I take breaks so it feels new and fresh when I pick up the controller again.

I was sucked into MW2 for months when I finally decided to sell it because of all the gay ass campers

Your absolutely right, every single game i have doesn't have a ending, except fallout 3 witch when it ended i litterly was depressed as hell. You ever play the elder scroll series? I cant put the damn controller down. I get depressed when any game does end, even world of warcraft once i have gotten the final level. And growspace, mabey i should get a timer, like the ones used to grow weed....
Yeah dude games like Warcraft are designed to keep you hooked.

Check this out

Pick up some games like Grand Theft Auto: 4 and Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead isn't for PC (yet?) but they are cool ass games that you don't want to play for long periods of time. They have endings and good stories too.

But yeah dude I would stay away from those other games if you are serious about curbing the 'addiction'

im a vid junkie too, been gaming my whole life ever since pong. The worst decision i ever made was when i was a teen and decided to play Diablo, that led to ultima online , which led to acherons call, which led to everquest, and then landed me at the feet of the biggest waste of time ever. world of warcraft.

i was in beta, i was there for the first onyxia raid and the opening of molten core. i beta'd and played every expansion. i was in a guild that was in the top 20 US for boss kills.

god even thinking about it now i get that feeling that i want to play and im "missing something"
After we killed all the bosses and shit, got all the realm first achievements, shit i even grinded out the Insane title, i spent most of my time sitting in a city posing and chatting with "friends" on vent.
waiting waiting waiting for them to release the next boss in icecrown and the argent crap. had an 80 of every class blah blah blah

it just hit me after we killed lich king and all those achievements blew up my screen........"what a colossal waste of my life."

no one cares if i raid HARDCORE or have rare pets or stupid titles, or legendary items. no one really cares.

so i quit MMO's. it was tough. it was really tough. I deleted all my wow bookmarks, no more realm forums, guild forums, bosskillers.com, wowjutsu ect ect. uninstall and sell your account on craigslist (doing it person to person will eliminate the ripoffs)

i play my 360 now. i get into a game sometimes and do marathon sessions but the grand thing is, the game ends. also the fact you can drop the controller and stop playing immediately with no butt hurt people "you cock you ditched us in the middle of our heroic HoL" or "we raid from 6pm to 11pm tue-sat if you cant make the whole time even if youre sitting out dont bother even logging in"

once youre free for a few months youll look back on it with disgust and yearn for all that time back. my main had over 500 days played, counting all my alts the time is staggering. what a waste, im still surprised my wife didnt leave me, i guess i was lucky.

quit MMOs but dont quit vids!

Yea i fell so tempted to start playing again cause the new expansion coming out. But a even more addicting game is called lord of the rings online...Dont get me fucking started. This game is so fucking great. One of the main bosses is the balrog! When you first make your character you cant stip thinking about that damn balrog, its not the balrog from moria, its another one in a place called "the rift of gar gashu". And the pvp is awsome, you can only pvp in a place called the moorodowns but you pvp aginst orcs, spiders, goblins, omg just thinking about this game makes me wanna buy a lifetime pass. The orcs you pvp aginst are other people playing what is called monster play. But the monster players cannot go out of the pvp area. When you pcp i mean pvp you got to try to capture these different forts and shit. Here ill link the website, they are making it free to play www.lotro.com

I logged like 350+ days on everquest... I bought a Mac and a PS3. Computer games, especially online ones are just way too time consuming for me. Some PS3 games, online, will suck up your time if you let them. When you meet people and play with them on a daily basis you turn it into a "responsibility" to play so you don't let your friends down. Still - I can't really stay addicted to PS3 games for more than a solid month, they just aren't that great/addictive. Just get a console

Life is about happiness. If this kind of entertainment brings you happiness, then live happy my friend. Im tired of all that pseudo religious bullshit that preeches misery now in exchange for happier times later. Sacrifice is moronic.

However, if videogames dont make you happy then dont play them. Find things that will be engaging and fun. Some people love working out, film and movies, reading books, community service (people do it because it gives them the warm fuzzy feeling and makes them happy, this is no more selfless than playing videogames). People devote themselves to their spouse or other loved ones, get involved in a job..The list goes on and on. All because it makes them happy.

Live life for you, because if you don't.. Life is not worth living.

Im an avid game player. I found myself in the same problem years ago, in fact i wasted some good teenage years on computer mmo's, and i can probably say the addiction hurt my education. On the bright side, i got out of mmo's and got into 1st person shooters. Sure, i can get down on halo 3 for a few hours, but eventually you get bored with it. I say try shooters. MW2, Halo 3, Halo reach releases soon. Lose enough, it pisses you off. Win enough, you get bored. But remember, play the game. Dont let the game play you. And if you got a girl, how does your addiction not affect that relationship? My gaming does........probably another reason i dont play all the time, my girl tells me to get the fuck off.....:o

Dude i was addicted to wow, you feel complete with it but honestly its the farthest from the truth you need to realize that when your just sitting there on your comp that your /played is the real time you have waisted with your life get the fuck up and go for a fucking walk get a puppy take care of it, start drinking or going out with a group of friends who arent sitting inside trying to play games, if you dont have a group go mountain biking skating just fucking realize that nothing your playing is real and to the billions of people out there your personality is staying the same while you yourself are aging. get active run do things to keep your mind off of everything, go to borders and im sure you can find magazines that interest you. sit down and let yourself think wow other things interest me more, im sure theres some girls that arent the hot popular ones in your school that interest you go talk to them work your way up from the fat ugly ones even if your not interested act like you are youll be spitting fire in a year. i played wow alll 10th grade had prob /played 80 days before i quit it after 10th grade summer, i slowly but surely went out every 2 3 weekends to a party and a year later i met my first gf who im still with now and if i sat inside waisting my time with wow i wouldnt be busting a nut no condom in a girl i love if that cant motivate you smash your fucking computer that works also(birth control relax : )
