vertical hung light question

using my first vertically hung 430 watt light. my question is how far should plants be from the light? thanks

do the back of the hand $H!T that hurt test , varies on the specific lamp , ur space , ur weather - too many factors to consider.
if it seems such a problem tho man , cooltubes seem to be popular

if you're going vertical, you can get the bulb closer to the plants usually, as the heat escapes straight up and without a reflector there to redirect it back down you have a little more play. But chazel is right, see how close you can get your hand to it before it starts to feel really hot.

I have my 400w HPS Hortilux bulb with Sun Systems 2 Hood about 6" above my plants. They really absorb the light well. I have a thermostat on the wall and I put the sensor about where the top of my plants are. The temp. is at 75 ( I have alot of ventilation ) so it's not burning the top. I believe you should have it 15-18" away max, the more the light is away from the plants the intensity of the light diminishes greatly.

I am a first time grower so I would check some of the threads in the newbie section. Great info, I spent countless hours there!
