Ventilation

Hi(gh):

I have some questions for ventilating a 12x13 grow room.

I am setting up in an enclosed basement room: 12 feet wide X 13 feet deep X 7 feet tall.

I was thinking I'd have at least four 1000 watt air-cooled HIDs. I would use a 1709 CFM exhaust fan to get air out of the room, thinking I would vent that into the garage next to the grow room.

Here's where I get a little confused. I definitely need a carbon filter. I already have the air-cooled lights. However, I assume I can't duct the carbon filter to the 1709 CFM exhaust fan, because the CFM for my required Carbon Filter would have to stay below 500 CFM.

My question is, how can I vent the air-cooled lights, while somehow putting the Carbon Filter to use, while exhausting air out of the room using the 1709 CFM exhaust fan?

Appreciate all replies.

You cant. You would over drive your filter and the air would move to fast to scrub the stink....been there done that.

You need 2 different exhaust system. One for the the lights that pulls air from outside the grow (Non smelly air) > lights (Enclosed reflector )> outside the room. This air never gets stinky. Then have a inline fan with a dimmer pulling air through yuor carbon filter (Inside grow room) > fan > garage. You need passive air intake vents near the bottom of your tent. Pressure from pulling air out of the room will draw fresh air into the room
