does a longer veg always end up with a larger yield?

no...if you properly train the plant during veg and build a nice even canopy on top to flower then yes...you should result in a larger yield. but just letting it veg longer and get bigger and then have to cut or bend it later in flower because you didn't realize it was going to grow more over the next 2 months...all depends on how you grow her.
