Vegetation light cycle?

My babies do not like 24-7. It makes them look puny and ragged like a mangey dog. Such a lighting scheme is not found in nature which has been previously pointed out by some other smart person. Weak lights causes stretching not being in the dark for a while as the Lord intended for plants. What are you people smoking? 18/6 is the only way to fly for veg.

Growing indoors under artificial light is all about pushing the boundries of nature. That is why we go straight to 12/12 when we want to flower instead of slowly decreasing the light over the course of weeks, like it occurs in nature. We use abrupt changes in light schedule to shock the plants into doing what we want them to do. Not enough shock to cause hermies, but enough to make the plant start the flowering cycle before it might be ready to do on its own in nature. I use 24 hour a day lighting for vegging it is my personal choice. I have tried 18/6 and went back to 24/0. One less timer to break and replace.

Not if you use CFL's, I find that they are just about the most benficial if you can utilyze the lumens/watt technique, 100 watts per plant gets you close but a little off is ok too. then 12/12 time is the the time like NHL playoff hockey, intense and strategic just the way you want it. I do like the 24/7 period but like to cut it back a bit then go right to a mix of cool cfl's and HPS for small grow, IMO

I use CFL's in the clone/seedling closet and for early vegging. When they get 2 or 3 sets of real leaves, I put them under a 430 watt Son-Agrow fixture for vegging. Then its off to the flower room to finish under two 1000 watt HPS lights.

So, 24/7 means lights are on 24hrs a day everyday never off? for the first 2weeks of vegetation?
Then switch to 18/6 for the last 2 weeks of vegetation?

Or any other suggestions..?

As best as may be interpreted I think you summed it up nicely. This graduated veg scheme is a new one on me. I always just drag them out from under the CFL's and stick them a long distance away from the 400 HPS. Try to shorten the distance gradually. When they get used to that I start adding some daylight CFL's scattered around where they will fit. The daylight version puts off a bluish light which I think helps compensate for the yellow of the HPS. It takes the place of buying one of the fancy hundred buck bulbs which emits HPS and MH at the same time. I know the plants like the addition of the CFL's.

when the seed is first planted in soil it doesn't vegetate until after 2 weeks? So what is that the growth
stage?
And then you start the vegetation stage for a total of 4 weeks?

I'm going to be growing NL #9 soon this week.

18/6 is deff the best. roots grow at night and the plants need a little break from light to stretch. This thread had me LOL for the last 5 min. Im going to get some Uncle Bens i got the fucking munchies.
