Veg stage lighting duration

Some say that during the veg cycle it's enough to keep the light on for 18 hours. That means 18/6. Others keep the lights on 24/24. How do you keep your indoor plants? 18/6 or 24/24? Can this detail make a big difference?

They respirate during the dark hrs, I feel they need this break, at least a 4 hr break. Are their any studies that show bigger plants faster using 24 hr light vs 18 6? Like side by side clones compared? I feel like it's extra electricity for a stress plant. I'm gonna go do some reading

They also do a lot of growing in the dark.

It doesn't have to be 18/6 or 24/0
You can have anywhere in between.

I subscribe to a dark period, so if its winter 20/4
In summer 18/6
Same. I need a full clone side by side grow in veg 18 vs 24, then into flower to see if they r both healthy n what produces what before I can just leave my lights on 24 7

Exactly..

We need more tests with more cultivars.

It's all well and good witnessing how they respond in veg, but how does that translate to flower and the end result.

Agreed, and I can also see where it may be probable to expect an increase in things like hermaphrodite plants, throwing nanners, foxtailing, and other stress symptoms when going from a life of 24 hr light to 12 12
