veg nute selections

Just wondering what everybody prefers as their veg nutrient for hydro.

I've run a ton of different stuff over the years - GH3, Dyna, HG, MC, V&B, Maxi, probably one or two others I'm forgetting. I'm about to start a run using J321 from start to finish.

I was hoping to get some input about what others prefer. Please disregard price for this discussion - just interested in results, PH stability, etc. And for the sake of discussion, I run ebb&flow in LECA with RO.

Thanks guys.

I was prepared to throw up my veg formula til I got to Ebb & Flow. What I use wouldn't work for ya. I'm in amended coco/peat mix.

Most recently I've been seeing some folks in hydro killing it with Heavy16.
Not the whole line. Just the base and an additive or two.

What additives are people claiming work? From the Heavy 16 line? Somebody here on RIU was singing that line's praises several months back, but I can't remember what thread.

I'll see if I can find the threads. I think they may have been on ICMag?
I'm not running H16 but I do use some additives that can be used with most lines.
The biggest game changer was adding a good bioavailable source of silicon. (monosilicic acid) to the base nutrients. I think growers often underestimate the importance of not only cal, but good plant available silicons.

Aptus, Mills Vitalize (said to be the original Facilitator) and Power Si are stabilized with PEG 400 and have a higher % bioavailable silicon (along with some aminos) than just potassium silicate (Protekt) And the added boron molybdenum is known to improve growth and yield. These additives are pricey but target dose for maximum effectiveness is 3ml/5gal or 16ppms per gal (.06ml/gal) so not too hard on the wallet.

Agisil received a ton of praise too but I haven't tried this one. I think Agisil also tested at the highest but I'd need to double check.

If you decide to give those additives a try, it'll pay to do a little homework. I've found most of the more common silica products on the market are just diatomaceous earth and water. If not in a very rich, well amended no-til soil the plant available silica is minimal.

I'm super tired and really burnt. Hope this makes sense or helps some. When I get this tired I'm usually all over the place.

I've bounced all around trying different shit recently (being a powder guy at heart)
Recently tried GH 3 part after being reluctant for some reason and that line is banging!
I am either staying on the 3 part or FloraNova (which works very very well on its own)
I am in inert media currently myself (perlite)
The 3 part is the standard for hydro but gotta say I even ran the FloraNova in DWC and NFT systems in my greenhouse all summer with great ph stability
If your gonna run any hummics, amino's, Kelp, (dark brown shit that requires frequent cleaning) don't be afraid of FloraNova as the most cost effective fantastic results solution.

This is a Green Crack cloned from a seed I popped week 6 on 3 part...

Just googled them, and holy shit are they pricey. I also found some powdered forms of silicone dioxide - $35 for 10 lb bag. Would dry not work in hydro?

I've been using the silica from Mad Farmer for the past several years. At first I thought I was having that placebo effect. But now, after running it and not running it, and then running it again, and then not, etc., i can definitely tell the difference and refuse to grow without it. But I'm also in a hot, dry climate. Interested in these other silica products you mentioned, but the monies though.

You did say disregard price, lol.
I probably wouldn't have purchased my bottle had I not been gifted a sample first.
I think I paid around $80 for 1000ml bottle and that will make roughly 3200 gallons.
And I bought mine locally. I see online they gouge the shit out of these products. Aptus being the worst. That shits like 20 bucks through the manufacturer in the Netherlands.
I have no doubt you can find mono sil cheaper. And FTR, I don't push snake oils. I'm of the belief that a balanced base is all that's needed start to finish. But I also believe silica to be the missing piece.

The H16 grows...I cursed over those and noted some instability issue with pH. Growers were having difficulty with it constantly drifting up.
