Vac Chamber Purging Method?

Hey all, just wanted to start by thanking those of you who have already helped me. I just got my passive closed loop and a couple pounds of bomb popcorn and am preparing for my first run tomorrow. I have found several differing techniques when it comes to purging with a vac chamber and thought I'd come here for a few opinions before I begin. I have a 5 gallon chamber with a 3cfm single stage and am currently in Denver so 5000 ft above sea level something like a max of 24.9 hg that I can pull. I plan to do thin films. I do not quite understand if the vac and heat is left on the entire time and exactly what to do when it muffins, pull a vac release and repeat? Then full vac between 85-115 depending on the strain? I have a basic understand but would greatly appreciate any help filling in the blanks!

Crank it up to vac then close the valve to hold it. I just vac straight to full vac and leave it till its done unless the muffin is to big and is going to hit the sides of the chamber. If that happens i just close the valve before it hits the sides and wait for it to drop then pull the test of the way. The muffin will just flatten on its own. I wait for everything to come up to temp before pulling vac
