Using Old Soil - Problems? +REP

Hi all, I am about to start my first grow and have a couple questions. I bought a lot of gear 3 years ago and never got around to using it. I have a bag of FF Ocean Forest soil that has been in my garage unopened for 3 years along with a bag of perlite and some FF grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom. There are a couple other bags of miracle grow stuff and others but I would be using the FF stuff and perlite for this grow. Reason I ask is for bug prevention and possible problems since the soil has been in the bag for so long. Is that a problem? Also, will the nutes be ok too? I know it may be a dumb question but I don't want to start off wrong. Thanks in advance.

Soil should be fine..bugs are possible though..if its been in a closed space it should be fine though..nutrients mighr be a different story..what kind of nutes?

probably wouldnt hurt to flush with water and a little hydrogen peroxide before you put anything in the soil

Ya check for holes in the bag. I would NOT use the nutes though. I was told by a clerk at a hydro shop that nutes go bad with in a year. He was specifically talking about my FoxFarm BigBloom.

Damn, well that's $50 down the drain. So the soil should be ok as long as no holes and the nutes are garbage. Still sitting in the bag I got them in from the hydro shop 3 years ago. Dang. Thanks.
