Use mothers or clone from system

Ak-48 is the strain in a heath Robinson octagon grow. I am trying to figure if I should use mothers for clones or take cuttings from the plants. I was something that can go direcctoy into flowering after the harvest is complete from the octagon. My idea what that I could take clones from the mothers a couple days before harvest so they would be showing roots by the time the harvest is done and then put them in the octagon. Am I thinking this right?

you should take clones befor the mothers go into budding then put mothers into buding when you put the clones into budding take your next set of clones from them
