Upgraded to 400 W. What to do with other light?

So I had a dinky 175 watt Mh that I started out with but upgraded to a 400 w switchable setup ( mh/hps). The space that I am using is 4 long 2 wide 7 f tall I was just thinking about leaving it in there until I make a little side room for it. Seeing it is mh though, When I flower with the 400 hps would keeping the 175 mh in there effect it in a bad way because the spectrum is not right? I was not to sure if it would be better to keep it during flowering or just separate the two lights all together. Also, How many plants do you think I can stuff in that area? I have not decided on which way to go yet (Hydro or soil..I have 2 top drip buckets right now) Hydro is a bit bulky for the space but always fun to toy around with. Soil on the other hand, I could fit 8 3 gallon airpots in there i think) Whats your peoples opinions of this rambling?

Keeping the MH in your flower room will not harm the plants at all (you might get slightly better yield with a more complete UV spectrum from what I've read).

You've got 8 square feet of room to work with. I'm personally using a 3 x 3 area and had 4 plants that became too crowded so I removed 2 of them (I may put one back in since I have a bit of spare room now). Look up LST, Scrog and SOG for ways to increase yields via pruning or bending stalks around.

I went with hydro myself and I have less grow room vertically (5 feet 3 inches or something) and I'm running into small issues with my lowering my canopy. I've been just semi LSTing (low stress training) by tying string near the top of my plants and bending it down a bit to lower the canopy. It's working fine but I wish either I'd gone with soil or just went with a bigger tent that was a foot taller. With your 7' high grow area I'd say that you'd be fine with either hydro or soil. Just estimate that your plants will double to triple size during flowering to gauge when to go to 12/12.

Leave it in,
MH (blue) will add to Trich production and taste, the HPS (red) will give you the weight.
I have a dual spectrum bulb and this does the same job.

Yea those suckers grow fairly fast in the first few weeks of flowering. I've read that rule of thumb is double for heavy indica strains and closer to triple for sativa strains. Do some research on LSTing then because you're likely going to need to do this so your top colas don't get burned. PS - I don't really know what the max height of Indica heavy strains are; I do know that Sativa heavy strains can be 8-9 feet tall.
