untraditional methods of hash extraction?

Hey RIU I know about solvents like Butane, ISO and solventless (water). Are there any new hash methods that are not widely used, but show certain promise?

What are some other solvents then Butane?

Unfortunatly there really aren't toooo many more that I know of.. There is your dry sift hash, some people use acetone as a solvent, theres the co2 extract that many are trying to make more possible for the smaller person. Some people use dry ice as well. But basically different techs for stuff. I like checking out the skunkpharm site for cool things like that.

You can also use propane.

I did hear of propane being used but I don't really hear much of it to be honest. Is it treated like butane? Or a lot harder to purge?

Unlike butane its impossible to find clean propane.

Butane, Penrane, Hexane, Ethanol, Isopropyl are all used.

I personally find butane extracted & ethanol winterized is the tops.

I got some green that had a few small traces of mold on it the other day, and I used it to make hash oil...now I know somebody is gonna come on here and say I'm poisoning myself with the mold, but this was the best way I could figure to get something out of the green I just blew money on instead of throwing it away. I read a lot of stuff on qwiso and rick simpson oil and decided to make hash oil using everclear. I basically did the qwiso method with pga...I baked the green at 305 for 6 minutes as I red this would kill most mold, then loosely crumbled it and put in the freezer. Got 1 liter of everclear and let that sit in the freezer for 2 days. Then soaked the frozen bud in the freezing cold alcohol (in mason jars) for about 5 minutes shaking ocassionally and did 3 washes. Strained the alcohol through coffee filters, then boiled the alcohol off. Ended up with some extremely sticky sap. Rigged up a mighty vac and a heating pad and "purged" on and off over a period of about 48 hours and the end product is extremely potent. I am using it for edibles/capsules and wasn't planning to dab it, but upon seeing the finished product I had to try it and its as strong as some bho/qwiso I've tried...

As noted by SP, you have to get instrument grade or better to escape mercaptan addition, but n-Propane does a good extraction job.

It produces a blonder consentrate and is easier to purge because of the low -42C boiling point, but takes much longer to recover in a recirculating system, for the same reason.

It is about $100 per LP-5 cheaper than n-Butane.

i've found the easiest, quickest, cleanest, most thorough method to be dry ice. it takes only a few minutes, and you're done. i wanted to see if there was much of anything left when finished. i tried doing a run with a bho tube. i got next to nothing. wasted my money on butane.....
