Unemployment Benefits To Be Funneled Through Bank Of America In California.

What happened to the good old days when we all were able to flip the finger to Bank of America and Wells Fargo with their near theft of our checking account monies when we over drafted?

We flocked en-mass away from the $75 dollar over draft charges on $40 in over drafts ( read 40 + 75 = what you owe for over drafting. )

Why hell we fined them in excess of 20 million dollars if I remember right.. It was a large amount nonetheless for scalping checking and others with heavy fees.

So we ran to Walmart and got a walmart money card. The smart ones did anyway.
Now with the help of Government Bank of America gets their paws on the unemployment money first now with an exclusive contract where everyone gets a Bank of America Debit card..
Sure , Sure you can transfer from that card to others but gone are the days when we could simply load up our Walmart card and feel good that we stiffed the big banks..

So hail big money getting their grubby hands on the cash flow again after they soaked us, by law, and without choice on our behalf.

Perhaps saving $3 for cashing a check seems good but knowing that it's business as I wish to avoid really steams my hot-dog.

Why the last thing I want is to pander to Bank of America with my UI funds.

How do you feel?

The issues of economics are impressive and political.

Lots of profits are earned, traded, risked and redeemed daily.

Putting a funnel in the pie hole of Bank of America when it is not a consumers choice?

I don't know exactly.. I like the ability to choose my banking and with BofA in charge of the flow... seems like we will get hosed.

Who do you bank with?

i suggest keeping your money in a jam jar under the floor boards ;D
First post huh? Then I need to say Welcome to RIU.

Interesting take on possession. I'd like to keep gold coins in a jar under the floor.
Dollars need to devalue so more are needed to maintain or advance in value.

I wish I had gold of the price just 30 years ago.

Mr G. Brother Im with you. Ive no respect or trust in any Bank.....US Bank ,BAC, & Wells Fargo are joined at the hip one lies the other swears to it. and they all rip us off on a hourly basic rate. Ive even tryed the smaller {friendly, hometown, there for you banks} all the same, Organized Money Laundry & Theft.

Whats new, JP Morgan is the Bank that controls the Food Stamp business. Every time you use your Food Stamps or EBT card, JP Morgan gets a small fee for managing the transaction. You can bet BofA is getting a small fee also.

Basically the TBTF banks caused the crash and now they are looting the system. Its been this way for 99 years.

Inflation will eat the rest of your money up before you even realize what happened.

electronic deposit is a good idea but you are right BofA must be getting a cut and use of that money like banks do.
Money to use possibly at no cost.

I'm not happy with the idea of being charged to get cash when one simply could cash their check instead of pulling a limited amount at an atm for a price.

And could the Government now monitor what one has and spends?

Not good imo.

What am I missing here?

Did you think Walmart didn't profit from those cards before BofA did?

Just off the top of my head, it sorta seems like a limited time contract....sorta like what networks do with sports broadcasting rights. One company gets the contract for X amount of time, then the next entity gets it for some time, and so on.

I don't see much difference, big-business-wise, between the 2.

But I'm stoned, kinda busy getting ready for a trip to Vegas, andnot in the mood to re-read and research. :-)

Earnst, I don't think you have to pay the bank to get cash, do you?

We are on unemployment atm, and get this card. Now, we have accounts with BofA....but if the card is a BofA issue, I don't think the bank charges if you want to go inside and withdraw cash.

ETA: regardless if you have an account with them or not.

Well, when it comes to unemployment cards/checks....whatever......whomever is contracted to deal with it is already making money, regardless. I doubt the government or anyone else for that matter, could pick a business to handle the transactions that everyone is gonna like.

I'm still betting receivers of that card can go into any BofA and get cash tho without having to pay anything.....as long as they have ID.

I think we need some investagators to look into this, and we definatly need more oversight and regulation.

using walmart in place of a bank like B o A, is like jumping from the tank full of hungry sharks into the tank of starved pirhannas.

Walmart IS NOT the shining star people seem to believe it is.

YOU CAN NOT SHINE UP A TURD, and Walmart is the BIGGEST RETAIL TURD in America.
BOYCOTT WALMART for all its worth.

In a Mythbusters show they did prove you can indeed polish a turd.

Its the same process for getting a Politician elected.

Yeah but it's a second stop to do my banking as I wish.. Now if I can electronically transfer from home then i save the physical trip to the Temple of Greed that Bank of America is in my opinion.
See they will be making money, but by what? Getting between a UI check and the people it is supposed to help!
Not so much that it's another way that is comparable to any other but it's a forced choice after the latest mergers and acquisitions.
I would rather not filter my meager funds through BofA as a matter of choice which we see clearly we are not going to get as time rolls on for the USA.

We are slowly being corralled my friends. Say Moo for the video surveillance.

We were supposed to have fought and won the war against these things.
