Underground 22x11 Design

My grow room is approximently going to be 11x22 and id like more info as i plan out my room, its not actualy going to be finished built until like december so i have plenty of time to plan. btw MONEY is not really a factor in this, when i do things i make sure i have the best of the best even tho it may cost a few more bucks, if i have to i can always set back its completion to a later date.

Another thing is the growing area will probably only be 20x11, basicly 6 sets of 6'' tubes 10 ' long after all attachments, each set being 4 tubes on saw horses. so it would be 4 sections of 3x10 of aeroponic tubes. basicly the Irish / Webby tube system with just 4 tubes instead of 5. its also split into 4 sections so im able to do the SoG method aeroponicly.

another question being as how the room isnt built yet, how tall do you guys suggest i build it. im digging out the entire area under my deck which is a 12x23 deck. so giving it 11x22 space. i am a apprientice carpenter so i should'nt have much trouble building the structure but im estimating i should make it 7'6'' OR ~ 9' . in my trailer from floor to ceiling its about 90 inches. so anywhere from 84'' to 108'' is my guess im just not sure how the lightmover and vents and everything is gonna play out.

its my understanding that plants need certain light while there in the vegitative state and certain light flowering so i cant use HPS for everything. any suggestions about the lights would be a great help, as in how many i would need or rather how much space/area a 1000w light could be used for efficiently.

i was considering custom building the resivoirs out of plexiglass or something, im not quite sure yet whats cheapest, but i dont thing a 53 gallon rubbermaid tub per 10x3 section would be enough.(thats 200 liters for you metric folk) if you guys do think i can combine 2 tubs together for a total of 400 liters for each section? im not sure if thats enough tho, i dont have any personal experience with a big grow.

im going to post on here design pictures, theories and thoughts in the future as it's being built so basicly this will be my research journal

any advice/help/opinions/suggestions/knowledge would be greatly appriciated.

Dont listen to that guy he is a poser, i like the underground idea, since it is your first grow you might want to start smaller then work your way up, your going to need 2 separate rooms for vegging and flowering, HPS for flowering, Metal Halide or T5 florescents for veg.

sorry i think i misread your question, you could get switchable ballasts and just change your bulbs from MH to HPS, or they have dual spectrum bulbs

how is your deck held up? digging all the dirt from under it, if it is posted in the ground sounds really sketchy. you are going to run into water issues most likely digging that deep as well ( more or less depending where you live ). I am very interested in your setup. have you drawn up any blue prints? if so can you post them?

my deck has 6x6 posts holding it up, i myself have built 3 decks in my line of work, i know how they are built. thats why im allowing 22x11 since the deck is 12x23. its actualy built where a add-on section to the double wide once was. and digging 108 inches wont reach water in the area that i live in its all hard thick clay :( which is gonna suck digging through. i live in a secluded area so i have no need to worry about neighbors seeing it, its just taht i can't use any room in my house due to the people that would come by frequently(in laws). im basicly going to lay blocks around the outside edge tar them in and build basicly a little building.... just underground. roof and flashing to keep out water(any ideas of a waterproof roof without using blackpaper and shingles anyone?) then bury the building and its access would be a small trapdoor under the house that had a tunnel to a small entryway into the room. the room would also have a small vent coming out right under garden rocks besides the heating and air unit. providing the air with fresh air would probably be done the same method only with a fan pulling the air in rather than pushing it out, again this is all just a plan as of right now.

btw ive considered doing a 6'x20' stadium on one side of the room and having the other side a 4'x20 aeroponics part but i want the weed to be its finest and best ever. in stadium its usualy done wait a minute... OMG i just got an ingenious idea. what if we take the irish webby aeroponics tube method and made it a stadium like setup, have more plants in a smaller area..... omg... so it would be like 1 tube 4 feet up on the far side 4 inches over and 4 inches down would be anther tube... so on and so forth like

o _ _ _ _ _o
_ o _ _ _ o
_ _o _ _o
_ _ _o o

that would be sick

i plan to build a mini stadium after i get a couple of these grows under my belt, then ill start to play and experiment a little. A couple stand's on wheel in the shape of a bowl(2 or 3 section's).

sounds great now where are you getting all of this electric for your 1000 watters fans filters etc. etc. etc... because if your planning on paying for it from the electric company like nothings changed, your stupid. you may get away with running 2-3 lights maybe. so again i ask where is the electric coming from? hydro electric (bypass the meter) ? well thats ez to catch so that'll just add a half million dollar fine and plenty of jail time to your already impending doom. so still your stuck.. how the hell can u do a large scale grow? start small/medium and SAVE your money jackass. go finance a vacation home thats near by. set that shit up SAFELY and you can automate most of it. 1-3 homes/vacation homes and all of the sudden your flying under the radar. your neighbors expect you to not show up much as its a vacation/time share area, and no one stays for long...but at the same time the electric company doesnt know that, they just figure the house is occupied. go over check your sweethearts, go swimming lay out tanning, stay the night and leave whenever you want; your on vacation a lot. viola.

although i like the plant man ... DO NOT make that your first attempt at growing .. grow outside first get to know your plants then do a little indoor also so u can get familiar with all the things and factors that go into indoor growing like lighting, venting, hydro/aero, and all the things with indoor growing ... id suggest just set-up a medium sized grow about 10-20 plants in a room of your house(basement most likely). and see how it works out for ya ... cause moving to a project like that .. its like just getting out of college and trying to work a job as a single parent and 6 kids. (just a reference) ha but .. work your way up to that point .. get one grow under the belt and move on to bigger(better) things .. just see if you really wanna move to a grow that large

I like all the ideas you have - but I'm going with the others on keeping it small and stealth - experimenting and learning is key - questions questions questions!!!

If I were you - I'd start small - 2-5 plants max - see how they work and grow etc... try a little cloning, different plant manipulation and propagation techniques - you DEF don't want to tip off the electric. A $40 jump in your bill is now where near as sketchy as say, a $160 jump (though - it's possible to keep all that down if you use the right equipment) and as I say - don't buy a car cuz it's cheap, buy it cuz it's cheap on GAS! lol - good luck man.

Speaking as a contractor, I think your plan is too ambitious and doesnt have secondary benefits.

The main reason I dont like it is that your doing all this work for a grow room and when your done, all you have is a root cellar under a deck.

If you are going to do this, why not just get an excavator at $300 a day, pour a concrete foundation, walk in stairs and put a room above it. That sounds expensive but it will be the same by the time your done and you will also have added some equity to the house which I assume you own.

I have tried excavating my crawlspace from 4' to 8' and I averaged about one full 5-gallon bucket of dirt per cubic foot. So my digging out an 8x8x4 square in the crawlspace ran me to the tune of approximately 256 buckets to get this tiny space. Of course, I need more than that and I'm currently contemplating tossing this idea away and finding something else.

Also, I hired 4 day laborers at $13.50 an hour ($108 each per day) to do the digging and hauling. They were spent and didn't want to come back another day.

If your an apprentice carpenter, I assume you can make your own forms from OSB, a concrete truck with conveyer is another $600 and then your in business. Pour a flat roof if you dont have more money and then set something on top of it later.
