Uncle Ben's Gardening Tweeks and Pointers

=(.. Today me and the ol lady discussed about my lighting.. and she wants me to switch to led lights or whatever that will bring the bills down and cut some expenses.. any thoughts or tips? I was looking at LED's journals and peoples thoughts but to me LED is still in the grey area, with optimum setup and knowledge i know its possible to do a decent yield, so i turn to you UB for your common sense and knowledge or if you can point me to the right direction. Thanks

I realize this thread is about advanced topping techniques for Uncle B but for led qustions check out the LED users unite section here. I switched from HID to LED and could not be happier. I don't have to worry about temps. My electric bill is lower. I don't have to feed them as much. My yield has actually increased. As much as I like the lower bills and smaller footprint the less worry is really what I appreciate more than anything else.

I grow amongst an older community who have used the same set ups for over 20 years. They resist change. Just last week one ran out and needed some help to hold him over. I took him a few buds and he couldn't stop looking at them. His comment to me was simple. "huh... guess those LED's do work". If that old crusty SOB is impressed then I think they are a good thing. There are a bunch of companies out there so do some calling before you order. I suggest Area-51. The owner is very good with quick responses and the product works. Check out the Dawg House grow journal. There are a few folks on there who use Area-51's.

Uncle Ben. I appreciate your views on Bloom and Veg nutes and agree with you. After spending 100's on nutes and doing many side by sides I came up with the same opinion. I add a tablespoon of Marine Cuisine per gallon when I first plant then just use water. I love it. I got so sick of mixing nutes and to just balance my water and go is a real treat. My community told me I was wasting my time and money but I had to see for myself... I should have listened. So much wasted money.

What kind of time release do you use? I read the numbers and am curious. Maybe I can start doing side by sides of time release.

It's Polyon. Similiar to Osmocote except it releases salts based on moisture AND temps.

Good to see you got away from voluntary enslavement.

use the 2-1-3 throughout...DONT USE 1-3-2 at the flip they will stretch like crazy and drop leaves...it is error to use high P ferts on cannabis in container gardening ..it is the macro used least by cannabis even in flower

outdoors is different ass P bonds and leeches quickly

2-1-3 can be found here...choose the one that includes all the micros or you will have to add those

I think anything that is balanced is fine. It's when you get into bloom foods that have wacked out NPK values like 1-5-8 that you get into trouble. Liquid Karma and crap like that although LK is nothing more than bottled water a .1-.1-.5.....that is if you believe and trust the stated analysis. $24/qt., are you kidding me? Who in the fuck is that stupid?

This biz reminds me of the auto title loan businesses we have popping up all over Texas, especially in the minority areas. Drill goes like this - you secure your title with the loan agency for cash ("....and I get to keep my car!"), for a "short" term loan that comes out to about 100% APR. Suckers will never, or can't afford, to ever pay off the principal as the interest payments are so horrendous.

Kite, looks like a great choice. If you're using that watch for boron toxicity. Sure is high in B. After playing with boric acid apps, I recently learned that some plants are really sensitive to it. I'm talking about as little as a pinch per gallon. Don't know about cannabis, but I suspect it is. It's one of those elements where plants require it for such processes as flowering but once you go over a certain threshold you can do some serious damage, even death.

Less is more,

hmmm.. thanks for the input guys... is there something I can get in the states? 2-1-3 ratio? The only thing I found was botanicare and that 3-2-4..

Hey Uncle Ben. Any last minute tips on my purple kush? 8 weeks since switch under a 600 hps. Been feeding bloom and grow nutes during flower. Planning on going half strength nutes for the next week or so. They are usually a 10 week strain from day I switch them over. Thanks for any input.
